November is one of my favorite months becausewe get to celebrate Thanksgiving. I know many of

you have similar holidays where you live.

As I prepare and ponder onthe many things I have to be thankful for,

one thing is on the forefront of my mind: FAMILY.

I think that family is even more in my thoughtsthis holiday with the recent passing of a beloved

family member. I am grateful for the years I hadto learn and be loved by my grandpa.

With my feelings fresh and on the surface, thisis the perfect time to create a layout that honors

him. As I looked through pictures, I found thispicture of my grandpa and I my first Christmas.

I love Finnish stars – they are elegant but yet folk art like and so easy to make.

Supplies:

Pick one sheet of your favourite paper from “12 Days of Christmas” and just add a Glue Stick. For the

Also Used: circle punches, a Stapler and some twine.

Instructions:

Step 1:You need 12 Strips of paper – The star will be whatever length you cut your paper strips to so if you want a 6” star, cut 6” lengths – I used 0.5” widths on mine but the smaller you got, you will need thinner strips.

Step 2:Take two strips and place them right angles to each other – glue in the middle.

Step 3: Take two more strips and place over the horizontal strip and glue in place.

Step 4: Take two more strips and weave them under the other strips and glue in place. Leave to dry completely.

Repeat the steps so that you have two exact mats like this.

Step 5:Take the right angle strips and bend into each. Glue in place. Repeat for all corners. Glue the cornerson the second mat.

Step 6:Place the two mats at right angles to each other so that the remaining straight strips are matched with a corner.

I used foam adhesive to glue them together.

Step 7:Poke the straight strips through the corners, pull the corners until the paper lies flat and then glue in place.

Step 8:When the glue has dried, cut the excess off so make neat corners.

You can leave it like this point, adding a hole for some hanging thread or you can add additional elements.

I added two more strips, cut into loops and glued on top of each other. I then added a rolled (quilled) circle to the middle.

For the Red Star, I punched a bunch of circles and adhered them together to make a semi circle and full circle baubles. Add some twine to hang them in a place to be enjoyed.
