MY PLANNING OF THE PRESENTATION

We have planned our presentation the following manner:

First of all, we read the article and did a summary about the main concepts. Then we though and wrote ideas relating to the article and the concepts that we were working in this subject. When we met in the last class we shared ours ideas and structured the presentation. This week we have been doing the materials and a little script because we want to do a small representation with our article and proposals. Finally, we have shared our materials and finished the last details.

In this entry, I want show our materials and the things that we have prepared that tomorrow we can do a good presentation.

SCRIPT FOR THE REPRESENTATION

PAULA

Once upon a time3 teachers of 3rd primary were wandering why their students didnt enjoy reading, and didnt wanted to read.

They thought about creating a Reading Project, based on a great Class Library.

Thats what they wanted it to be.

ALEXIA: I have a very clear idea of what the Library must be!

PAULA; we need English dictionaries!

Alexia: NO Students loose the momentum! They have to guess the meaning!

MPAZ: We will do comprehension activities after each book!

ALEXIA: No! In that way students rummage around the text for information! Not for enjoying!

PAULA: Then, we will ask them for written summaries!

ALEXIA: NO! Theyll see it as a punishment!!!

MPAZ: Ok, then what about reading aloud in class with them!

ALEXIA: NO, the students hate it! They suffer agonies thinking about it! The Reading moment must be the greatest moment of the day! This will encourage them to read, and enjoy the time with a book! They must take the pleasure for reading this is our AIM!

PAULA: Lets think about the library management and the implementation of our project!

Lets start encouraging our students with things like this (va engantxant frases),

They have to choose the book they want to read

And we must offer them different levels and genres!! Historic books, adventures, fiction, etc.!

M.PAZ: great!

Each book must have a card like this, and each student can express his opinion about it! And they can write their opinion too.

Also each student can have a reading passport, and will write the books he has read. We can give them prizes, to the ones that read a lot! In that way we also have a control on the books they have read!

ALEXIA: fantastic!

Thinking about the library management, we will have 2 students responsible for the library (control of the books taken, read, etc). We must create an specific place as we have place in the class, it will not only be shelves or bags plenty of books but also a relaxing place to stay!

And well hang a poster recommendation for all students, so that every student that has read a book can recommend it or not to their peers, through a post-its!

PAULA:

And in that way, the teachers implement extensive Reading in class, and students start Reading for pleasure!
