“My Side of the Mountain” by: Jean Craighead George, written in 1959 1. Page 67 vocabulary and reading strategies a. Vocabulary Prediction Chart: b. I will give them a paper with the chart and the list of words c. Next I will ask them to guess the meaning of the word d. Then I will show them the sentences with the words in them and ask them to write there guess down after reading the sentences. e. I will then have them write down the clue that helped them with the word. 2. Identifying with a Character: page 67 (goes for pages 68-73) a. Give the students the worksheet with the 4 questions on it and the cause and effect worksheet. Explain that as they read the story they will be answering the 4 questions for every two pages and will be identifying 3 causes and effect relationships in the story.
