LJUBLJANALJUBLJANA, the capital, with its 276,000 inhabitants, maintains the friendliness of a small town, and at the same time possesses all the characteristics of a metropolis.Here, at the meeting point of the cultures of the east and the west, the old interlaces in harmony with the new . In Ljubljana the remainders of all the five milleniums of its history are preserved, among these is the legacy of the Roman town of EMONA and the Old Town with its medieval castle, Reneissance and Baroque facades, ornamented portals and uneven roofs.

PORTOROŽ

PORTOROŽ, a tourist town which boasts the longest tourist tradition in Slovenia It is a town visited by tourists from all over Europe and other countries as well. It is an internationally known HOLIDAY CENTRE and climatic health seaside resort.

PIRAN

PIRAN is an ancient Mediterranean town situated at the cape of the Piran peninsula. The town is actually a large museum with a MEDIEVAL ARCHITECTURE and a rich culture heritage. Narrow streets and tight houses are the special charm of the town.

KOPER

KOPER is the main Slovenian port and the entrance to the inland of the Central Europe. It is located on the "top" of ISTRIA. Koper was an island till the 19th century. Later the town and the island were connected with the mainland. Old town centre boasts with the rich architecture and cultural monuments.

POSTOJNSKA JAMA More than 26 million people from

all over the world have admired the stalagmites and the stalactites of the POSTOJNSKA JAMA in 175 years of organised tourism. However, ancient signatures in the entrance passages prove that the cave was first visited in the 13th century.

ŠKOCJANSKE JAME

Because of  their extraordinary significance for the world's natural heritage, in 1986 the ŠKOCJAN CAVES were included in UNESCO's world heritage list. They were listed as a first underground wetland in the world in 1999 representing Ramsar wetlands of international importance.

TRIGLAV

The mighty but easily accessible Julian Alps, the tourist area in this attractive geographical area is linked by the offer of four developed tourist towns: Bled, Kranjska Gora, Bohinj and Bovec with the Soča Valley. Most of the area is within the TRIGLAV NATIONAL PARK which measures 83 807 hectares and is one of the largest natural parks in Europe. The park lies in the vicinity of high stony mountains including MOUNT TRIGLAV (2864 m); the highest mountain of Slovenia

BLED The renowned BLED with its lake and

the island with a church from the 17th century (and the bell of wishes) is situated at the edge of the park, and above it stands a MEDIEVAL CASTLE. Bled, celebrating its 1000th anniversary in 2004 is considered a real tourist paradise with its THERMAL SPRINGS and other natural attractions

BOHINJ BOHINJ is the starting point for

numerous mountain hikes, Lake Bohinj and Bohinjska Bistrica are a paradise for lovers of WATER SPORTS (kayaking, canoeing, rafting, hydrospeeding, swimming) and fishermen.

Famous tourist destination KRANJSKA GORA attracts visitors with OUTDOOR SPORTS (hiking, mountaineering, cycling, horsmanship, paragliding, fishing etc) in the summer, and in winter with excellent slopes for winter sports. In Kranjska Gora there are the World Cup competitions in Alpine skiing
