What’s it about?When he is grown up, Zeze wants to be "a poet with a
bow tie. For the moment, he is a small five-year-old Brazilian who is discovering what life is. At home, he is a true imp who makes silly things on silly things and receives terrible smacking. At school, on the contrary, Jose is an angel with the heart of gold and with the wild imagination which makes his teacher so happy as much as he is gifted and intelligent. However, even for a merry and mischievous child, the life is sometimes difficult in a poor Brazilian family. Then, when he is sad, Zeze takes refuge at his friend, Minguinho, a small foot of sweet oranges, to which he entrusts all his secrecies. My Sweet Orange Tree is an autobio-graphical novel in which Jose Mauro de Vasconcelos tells with nostalgia and emotion his Brazilian child-hood.

Why? If you really want to know about poverty, pure love, feelings,
emotions and connection. Go get this book and stick to it. Be-lieve me, it’s definitely worth your time and money. Even if you’re not, God forbid, into reading books and novels and stories and you’re not a novel-reader in general, you should still read it. Reading this book has almost nothing to do with being inter-ested in literature or novels or something, it’s purely sentimen-tal. It’s all about true feelings, the meaning of real love and the meaning of spiritual connection. It’s not just an amusing story, but something more than that, something more profound. Some-thing that will truly touch your heart & affect you as long as you live. Let me give you a general view of the whole story, I know I can never create the same atmosphere, but better than nothing. Besides, I want to mention some interesting points at the end of it.At first, when you start reading this book, it may sound a little bit childish to you & you may start cursing me for introducing a nursery rhymes collection for you; well, don’t do that! Keep reading and you’ll see how you’re going to stick to it.
