Vision & Mission

• MyOpenCare aims to become the first digital platform that allows patients to individually plan the cure for their illnesses and health problems making the most of participation in a community of users

• In the near future the role of doctors in the management of non-surgical or peculiar topics will decrease. There will be an increase in the community’s attention towards personal healthcare through “medical communities” instead

• MyOpenCare believes in evolution towards electronic healthcare with uses for all of the possible digital formats

• Main goal is to leverage so-called Read Law in medical field: the value of knowledge grows exponentially when a new node (user or doctor) is added up to the existing network. Medicine is one of the most knowledge intensive productive sector.

The Product

• MyOpenCare was planned to be able to allow the management and sharing of any kind of digital medical content in a simple way, even for non-specialists

• MyOpenCare is:• A digital platform for user-created content, taking YouTube one

step further (YouTube is not a container for any kind of content)• The first themed P2P consistent with international standards for

electronic interchange of clinical information (HL7, etc.)• The first tool to manage customized medical treatment thanks to

the valorization of readily available knowledge; HBook, Health learning

• Tending, as the gathering of content will continue, to a vertical search engine with the potential to semantically enrich the data (interpretation and enrichment of diagnoses, etc.)

An original Web 2.0 offer: multimedia and multi-channeled

• Representing knowledge in health care is difficult because of the different types of contents needed for its management

• MyOpenCare makes peculiar use of the characteristic technologies of Web 2.0 to make access simple for every potential user category, that will finally be able to be part of the management of the platform being allowed to choose any kind of format, such as video, pictures, text or with any amount of mixing needed to deliver medical knowledge

• With MyOpenCare it will be possible to manage multimedia content on different platforms (broadband and mobile). Different pieces of content can be logically linked to create “paths of knowledge”. They can become a healthcare service that can allow the identification of symptoms through pictures, compilation of a cure through the analysis of texts, understanding of risks in surgery through a video and so on.

Using Your H-Book

•Your published H-Book appears as a graph in MyOpenCare’s H-Book section. The graph delineates each node of your H-Book which allows for easy and logical referencing by both the book’s creator and by those who have shared linked content. The graph also allows you to comment on each delineated path;•The H-Book can be commented on and textually enriched by other registered members. This allows for the sharing of a growing knowledge bank of each topic or node. Your H-Book will thus evolve through the addition of more relevant and instructive content.•The number of comments posted to your H-Book serves as a feedback tool with which to judge the number of members who share an interest in your experiences.

MyOpenCare first experience

•We realized the platform and went live de facto without any marketing activity.•It seems that for patients is not easy to manage an H-Book.•It seems that communities of patients sharing the same medical situation are not already organized; they have to grow up.•Medical contents are by far much complex to manage and share than other personal contents.•Next step: work with some organization representing specific pathologies.
