Workforce Democracy and Fairness Act (H.R. 3094)

House Vote #869; Passed with a 235-188 vote. November 30, 2011The National Labor Relations Board's (NLRB) proposed rule foraccelerated union elections that would drastically shorten the timeemployers have to present their case as well as the time for employeesto ask questions and make an educated vote. Prior to the rule beingdelayed indefinitely by the U.S. District Court for the District ofColumbia, the House brought this bill to the floor.

IEC’s Position: Supported H.R. 3094

Comprehensive 1099 Taxpayer Protection and Repayment of Exchange Subsidy OverpaymentsAct of 2011 (H.R. 4)

House Vote #162; Passed with a 314-112 vote. March 3, 2011; Signed into law by President BarackObama on April 14, 2011 This legislation repeals the expanded IRS 1099 reporting requirementsenacted as part of the healthcare reform law passed in 2010. This is amajor victory for IEC members and small businesses around the countrythat would have been severely impacted by the new requirements.

IEC’s Position: Supported H.R. 4

H.R. 2587: Protecting

Jobs From Government Interference Act (H.R. 2587)House Vote #711; Passed with a 238-

186 vote. September 15, 2011This act amends the National Labor Relations Act to deny the NLRBpower to order an employer to close, relocate, or transfer employ-ment under any circumstance. It was in response to the NLRB filinga complaint against Boeing for building a new plant in South Carolina,a right-to-work state. The plant cost millions of dollars and createdthousands of jobs. The complaint was viewed as an attack on freeenterprise and an over-excursion of power the NLRB.

IEC’s Position: Supported H.R. 2587
