NGreetings NW Des Moines Rotarians!

We had a successful week, last week, with the arrival of our new exchange student, Hector Gonzalez from Cozumel, Mexico. Hector has been a project for a few of us Board members over the past month. Our Club needs to recognize Mark McAndrews, and Brenda Auxier-Mailey for taking on the Club responsibility in hosting this future Urbandale student. Mark has agreed to be Hector’s Counselor, and Brenda will be Hector's Youth Exchange Officer. They both have had a crash course in the Rotary Youth Exchange

Program, and we are now a better Club with the knowledge they generously acquired. It is my hope that Hector got to experience the Iowa State Fair. Anyone coming from Mexico should eat a good corn dog, see the largest pig in Iowa and take a ride in "Ye Old Mill"! Not to mention, Graziano Sausage, Bauder’s Ice Cream, and Pork Chop on a Stick, a little flavor of Iowa...for all ages! Special "Thanks" to Jim Arthur and all our Special Olympics Root Beer Float volunteers, as well as Larry Sample and our CFUM volunteers. You are the spirit of Rotary, alive and well!
