As March comes to a close, NABWIC would like to join with the rest of the nation in recognizingthree more outstanding women who have made notable contributions to the constructionindustry. We hope that you will take a moment to read their brief biographies and value thelegacy that they have and are leaving for those of us who aspire to become builders in ourspheres of influence. over 100 Years

It’s safe to say thatmost young girlsdon’t spend theirweekends walking

through construction sites in a hard hat, but CherylMcKissack Daniel did. In 1905 her grandfather foundedMcKissack & McKissack Architects & Engineers, whichprovided the blueprint for her career.

The outfit is one of the oldest minority-ownedprofessional design and construction firms in the UnitedStates, and when Daniel’s mom took the helm after herhusband’s sudden illness, it became a woman-runconstruction company too.

In 1968, William McKissack—the son of Moses III—tookthe reins of the company and paired innovative ideaswith exceptional leadership skills to further the legacyset by the men before him. Upon his retirement in 1983,his wife, Leatrice B. McKissack, took over as CEO andoversaw over $300 million in design and constructionwork, until the turn of the century.

Since becoming President and CEO in 2000, CherylMcKissack Daniel proudly carries on the tradition setforth by her ancestors, and understands the company’sresponsibility to fuse commercial success with a greaterbenefit for the communities in which it builds. This is why,for five generations, McKissack’s business strategy hasbeen to foster long-term relationships with clients.

The services provided by McKissack do not start or stopwith any amount of brick, concrete, or steel—McKissackworks as a single, integrated unit, overseeing projectsfrom conception, through start-up and operation.

A ground breakingtrailblazer andpioneer, Ann is themaster of theInternational

Mastermind Association, Ann McNeill lives and teacheswork-life balance principles, which are values that helppeople achieve a life style of completefreedom. McNeill received her undergraduate degreein accounting from Florida Memorial University, and hergraduate degree in finance from Barry University.

After several years in the financial industry her interest inconstruction was peaked when she and her husbanddecided to self-perform some home renovationsSubsequently, she joined Thacker ConstructionCompany and eventually started her own company,MCO Construction & Services, Inc. Currently, she holdstwo general contractors licenses.

Ann McNeill is president and owner of MCOConstruction & Services, Inc., MCO Consulting, Inc,Colbert/Ball Tax Franchise, and Constructively Speaking,Inc. Additionally, she is the founder of the InternationalMastermind Association and the Association of BlackWomen in Construction. In terms of volunteerism,McNeill is also the National Treasurer of the FloridaMemorial University National Alumni Association.

As a life coach McNeill speaks nationally, teachingwork-life balance principles that stem from theMasterMind Concept, which she learnt from Napoleon

Hill’s Think & Grow Rich. She has been featured in BlackEnterprise Magazine and US Today. She also appearedon ABC’s World News.

KIMLE NAILER is a“developer” on many levels,in every sense of the word.Her calling and herlife’s work, have always beenabout building, transforming,and bringing about positive

change. Her professional experience has includedemployed positions designing and managing researchprojects in the automotive, healthcare, and advertisingindustries. She has managed multimillion-dollar projectsand budgets.

As owner of Nail-Rite Construction, Kimle Nailer has over22 years of project management experience as a realestate investor renovating and rehabbing homes.She is responsible for securing construction contracts,managing projects within budget and ensuring superiorcustomer satisfaction for owners. She secures projectfunding and manages budgets for profitability. Herresearch expertise allows her to analyze projectdevelopment growth strategies, ultimately improvingrevenue and profitability.

As president of the company, she manages operations,as well as field teams for timely completion of projects;develops strategic partnerships securing contracts tosupport growth of the organization, and managesbusiness relations increasing new project opportunities.

In terms of volunteerism, Kimle is President of theNational Association of Black Women in Constructionand the founder of Positive S.I.S.T.E.R.S., an organizationdesigned to empower women through Sisterhood.

Ms. Nailer was recently recognized in Who's Who inBlack Detroit - 9th Edition as a Top Black CEO in Detroit.She also received the Michigan Chronicle's Women ofExcellence Award and was a Finalist in NEIdeas andModel D Startup Story Night: In Good Company.
