why choose Globeducate holiday courses? How we teachWe take a learner-centred approach which
develops core skills such as teamwork,
responsibility, problem solving and
critical thinking.
We make classes fun to motivate students and
believe that this helps them become inquisitive,
independent learners.
All our programmes develop learners’ confidence
through age-appropriate themes and activities,
a learning-centred approach and collaborative
experience. Teachers all have Qualified Teacher
Status and experience in their subject area.
We aim to provide learners with authentic
opportunities to practice their language skills such as:
● Conversation in social situations
● Questionnaires and quizzes in school and on trips
● Problem-solving as a team
● Using English outside of the classroom
How are students placed in classes? When learners arrive on their first day.
they complete a placement test. We find
out what each pupil knows, what they want
to learn and what interests and motivates them.
We place students in a class at an appropriate level where
they will feel comfortable yet challenged to develop their
language skills. Learners are also placed according
to their age to ensure that all children are at the
same stage cognitively.
How is progress measured? Pupils aged 8 upwards are given a weekly progress
test which is in the form of a game or quiz to help
them understand how much they have learnt.
It allows the teachers to evaluate who is ready to move
to a more challenging level or requires further support.
Observation and reportingYounger learners are monitored and assessed
by teachers through informal observation.
All students receive a certificate and report upon
completion of their course.
I enjoyed my time at ICS, it’s the best school ever and I’ve learned many things. I will miss you all!— Lola. ICS Summer School

During the English School Experience, students boost their language through inspiring activities, projects and London excursions.
The programme provides students with
a ‘British style’ school experience which
develops a command of English language
skills in academic subjects.
course The English School ExperienceIn our core programme for English learners, students accelerate their skills through inspiring activities & projects in a British-style school experience, enhanced through London excursions.
Student ages
3 – 4 years old NurseryThe focus is on creative and play
based learning and the development
of communication and social skills.
Children use song, dance, drama,
art and construction to improve
language skills.
5 – 7 years old Lower PrimaryLearners work collaboratively
through project-based
activities, researching together
to improve English language
and communication skills. Weekly
excursions take place in central
London and are directly related
to the learning that is taking
place that week.
8 – 9 years old Upper PrimaryLearners take part in exciting
discovery-led activities with
a focus on all communication
skills: speaking, listening, reading
and writing. Lessons and activities
are linked to a weekly project.
Weekly excursions take place
in central London and are directly
related to the learning that
is taking place that week.
10 – 17 years old SecondaryLearners build confidence and
competence through projects
and focused lessons which
include group work, worksheets,
questionnaires and research tasks.
Weekly excursions take place
in central London and are directly
related to the learning that
is taking place that week.
Each week focuses on a particular theme based around culture,
history, commerce or the environment. The thematic nature of the
course means students learn within a meaningful context and will not
repeat the same lesson or excursion, no matter how long they stay.
Every student takes a placement test on their first day so the academic
team can group children appropriately by the level of English and age.

Pastoral CareA parent’s first and primary concern is the health, safety and wellbeing of their child.
At ICS Summer School, we are totally of the same mind! The health, safety
and welfare of your child is the most important thing for us as well. What
exactly does that mean? What is the health, safety and welfare of any child
really about? Pastoral care is the term that we use to describe all aspects
of the health, safety and welfare of students at ICS Summer School. It means
that the adults at the school are committed to supporting not only the
academic learning that takes place but also the personal, social and
emotional development of each student.
Our job is to keep students safe, healthy and happy while promoting their
interpersonal, intrapersonal, cultural and communication skills. ICS Staff
take the time and make the effort to get to know each student
as an individual.

Summer SchoolEnglish PlusA boarding school experience on a stunning site in beautiful English countryside just outside the city of Bath. Here you can learn what it is like to be a boarder in England, learning, trying new activities and making lifelong friends from other countries.
Project English is an exciting task-based course component which allows students to work together to design and create their very own product, be it a video presentation, class magazine or even a play!
This helps students develop their interpersonal and team working
skills in a highly communicative setting, ensuring the English they
learn is used in realistic and meaningful contexts.
Conversation is focused by theme to give students the skills and vocabulary
for communicating in English and to encourage engagement. A variety
of teaching techniques including projects, group work, research tasks and
worksheets ensure that no two days are the same which reinforces and
embeds learning. Trinity College exams can be taken by students (by prior
arrangment), providing an internationally-recognised qualification.
Excursions take place on the weekend in some of the world-famous tourist sites in the local area, including London, Oxford, Bristol, Stonehenge and the historic UNESCO World Heritage city of Bath.
Very enjoyable, good to make some new friends from different countries in the world who helped improve my English.— Charles. Stonar Summer School

English Plus Football
Coaching from experts to help develop skills and tactical play.
Boys and girls the world over love
watching and playing football so
this universally-loved game not only
involves skills and fitness but unites
people in a way few other sports can.
Our coach will organise activities
to ensure that everyone leaves with
developed football skills, feeling fit
and with new friends.
Our football coaches understand
the need for mastering basic skills
in the game and will work on turning,
crossing, dribbling, heading, tackling,
passing and shooting. Agility and
fitness will also be a focus in order
to develop ball control and
footwork skills.
With a combination of these basics
and some tactical play, students will
improve their overall understanding
of the game.
Football is just the best - we did passing, dribbling and shooting today and then had a match to practise our skills. It was brilliant!— Richard. Stonar Summer School
I really enjoyed the tennis course and the teachers. The staff are amazing and make you feel really happy.— Vittoria. Stonar Summer School
Tennis lessons usually take place in
the afternoon after the English study
has finished for the day. The sessions
are delivered by qualified LTA
coaches and are designed to improve
skills at all levels in different aspects
of the game. This could include
serving, volleying and rallying, agility
on the court or positional and tactical
play for the more advanced players.
Our coaches understand the needs
of players of all ability levels and
will target specific areas of play
to improve.
English Plus Tennis
Expert coaching provides junior tennis players the chance to take their skills to the next level.
Whether your child plays for fun
or likes to compete, the tennis
coaching will work on every
aspect of their game with focused
demonstration, feedback and
practice. Energetic and enthusiastic
coaches working in a 1:6 ratio get
the best out of students and stretch

Our summer residential programmes are based on a 7-day week.
TravellingPlease ensure that your children travel with an authorisation to leave their country of residence. Please note that certain airline and railway companies do not accept unaccompanied minors under 12 or 14 years old. We recommend purchasing travel insurance.
Pocket MoneyPocket money will be collected from students on arrival so it can be kept secure. It will be available on request for pupils when appropriate. We suggest no more than £50/€50 a week per pupil.
Airport Transfers It is the parents’/agent’s responsibility to arrange flights. Please inform us of the student’s flight details and request airport transfers if required by completing the Student Travel Details section on the application form.
Globeducate holiday courses offer an accompanied transfer service from specific airports (for an additional charge at ICS and Stonar). Students under 16 will becollected by the team directly from the relevant airline company. Students aged 16 or over should make their way to the exit of the terminal where they will be met by our reception team who will be holding a sign.
Ideal times for arrival or departure are between 12.00 and 18.00 on the allocated transfer day. On their return, our staff accompany all students right up to check-in and will only leave the airport after the student’s flight has taken off. Globeducate will provide students and parents with the mobile phone number of the person in charge of the transfer.
