Annex HallFor organizations holding an event which requires the scale of a hall, our Annex Hall provides a total of 471m2 (250m2 Hall, 221m2 Entrance Hall). Up to 250 chairs and 60 foldable tables are included, along with a screen, 2 whiteboards, 2 pulpits, and ample electricity supply. Being a fully-equipped hall means it also includes an audio control room, simultaneous interpreting equipment and 3 interpretation booths. For those requiring the convenience of a separated area for meetings, a 20-seat / 82m2 conference room is included. We welcome visits and inspections, so if you would like to see the hall for yourself, please call us to arrange an appointment.

Conference RoomsLarge and comfortable rooms which can accomodate up to 84 seats (182m2). Some rooms can also be combined to create larger areas. The facilities also include whiteboards, pulpits and electricity supply.

Japanese Style Room

A 12.5 tatami mat room is available, along with four tables and 20 cushions, along with electricity supply. An authentic Japanese room in our modern facility which is sure to leave a lasting impression. The room can also be converted into a carpeted, 12-seat conference room.

Exhibition RoomsPerfect for trade fairs, product launches and exhibitions, our largest room is 234m2 in size. We have a total of three rooms, which can be combined to give you a maximum total floor area of 458m2.

■Plan ahead for garbage disposal when moving引っ越しごみは計画的にSpring is a time when a lot of people move to another area. Check the appropriate disposal method for your unwanted items, and dispose of them in the proper manner. Particularly in the case of non-burnable garbage and large-sized garbage, of which collection takes place only once a month, it is important to confirm the collection date, and put out your garbage in a planned manner, a little at a time, so as not to have too large an amount of garbage at one collection area on a given date.

Living Q & A: Do I have to pay Japanese income tax on my foreign pension?外国人暮らしのQ&A「本国でもらう年金に対し日本で税金を払わなければいけないか」

I am a foreign citizen who has been in Japan for two years. I receive a pension in my home country, which is deposited in my bank account there, from which I withdraw money when needed. Am I required to pay tax

on my pension from my home country?

A pension (nenkin / 年金) paid to you is classed as income (shotoku / 所得), and is therefore subject to income tax (shotokuzei / 所得税). However, in the case of a foreign citizen's income from sources outside Japan, the scope of income subject to income tax in Japan will depend on the classification of one's residential status.

The scope of individual tax liability is determined according to the residential categories of Resident (kyojūsha / 居住者) and Non-resident (hi-kyojūsha / 非居住者). A Resident is an individual who has a domicile (jūsho / 住所) or has had a residence (kyosho / 居所) continuously in Japan for at least one year. Those outside this category are categorized as Non-residents. In the Resident category, individuals of non-Japanese nationality who have had a domicile or residence in Japan for a total period of five years or less within the preceding ten-year period are further classified as Non-permanent residents (hi-eijūsha / 非永住者). Residents other than Non-permanent residents are conveniently classified as Permanent residents (eijūsha / 永住者).

As to the scope of taxation according to residential status, the whole income of a Permanent resident, regardless of whether from sources within or outside Japan, is subject to taxation. In the case of a Non-permanent resident, income from sources within Japan, and income from sources outside Japan which is paid within Japan or remitted to Japan are subject to taxation. In other words, a Non-permanent resident’s income within Japan is subject to tax.

In your situation, given that you have been in Japan for two years, you would be classified as a Non-permanent resident. Your pension paid into a foreign bank account is therefore not subject to Japanese income tax. Although it seems that withdrawing funds for everyday expenses in Japan from your foreign bank account is not considered a remittance (sōkin / 送金), this may vary depending on the circumstances, so please consult a tax office.

On the other hand, funds paid within Japan or remitted to Japan are subject to taxation, so you will be required to submit a final tax declaration (kakutei shinkoku / 確定申告) in order to pay. When filing one’s final tax declaration, if one has an obligation to pay income tax or an equivalent tax in accordance with foreign laws, one can credit a certain amount of the foreign income tax against one’s Japanese income tax, a deduction known as foreign tax credit for non-residents (gaikokuzei-gaku kōjo /外国税額控除).

Toba no Himatsuri 鳥羽の火祭りOne of the most peculiar, extraordinary annual festivals in Japan, and a designated National Intangible Folk Cultural Property.Highlights (all times approximate)15:00 – Shin-otoko (holy men)

and ministers gather at the shrine and depart for the ocean.

15:30 – In an act known as misogi, they gallantly run into the freezing cold water to purify themselves.

Kinekosa Matsuri きねこさ祭The Kinekosa Matsuri has a history of over a thousand years, and the adherence to age-old customs has seen the festival counted among the Three Bizarre Matsuri of the Owari area.There are three main rituals that take place. In the kawa-matsuri (川祭り / river ritual), 12 males designated the ceremonial roles of yakusha (役者) wade into the Shōnai River and erect a bamboo pole in the middle of the river. One of the men then climbs the pole, and the direction in which the pole breaks is used to divine fortunes (12:30, at the Shōnai River west of the shrine).A traditional procession (from 14:00) features Shinto priests, the yakusha, and dancers in costumes from long ago.In the yakuharai (厄祓い / removal of ill fortune; from 15:00), the yakusha perform their duties in the shrine grounds while striking worshippers with ritual implements to exorcise and protect them from ill fortune.When: Mon. 10 Feb.Where: Shichishosha Shrine (七所社), Nakamura Ward (中村区)Access: A 15-minute walk west from Iwatsuka Sta. Toyohashi Oni Matsuri 豊橋鬼祭The main annual festival of Akumikanbe Shinmeisha Shrine, heralding the arrival of spring to the Higashi Mikawa region. The festival has been designated a National Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property due to its ritual performances of dengaku (田楽/ ritual music and dance performed at observances connected to rice planting), popularized during the Heian and Kamakura periods, infused with Japanese creation legends, still presented in their ancient form. The two-day festivities feature a variety of traditional ritual performances by parishioners, the most well-known being the “Duel of the Tengu and Red Oni” (鬼 / ogre; around 14:00, 11 Feb.). The wild red oni and the warrior tengu battle, using an arsenal of secret arts, before the defeated oni flees, scattering sweets and white powder (flour) in his wake. The Takisanji Oni Matsuri 滝山寺鬼まつりKnown as the bizarre festival that heralds the coming of spring to the Mikawa area, the Takisanji Temple Ogre Festival was the very first of Aichi Prefecture's intangible folk cultural properties to be designated (in 1954). The main hall (itself a national important cultural property) becomes enveloped by flames as a grandfather, grandmother, and grandchild ogre (oni / 鬼) appear (from around 19:45), and are chased away by young men bearing a 2.5-meter torch in a gallant spectacle.When: Sat. 15 Feb. As well as appearances by professional anime voice actors, popular VTubers and famous cosplayers, the event is packed with hot attractions including demonstrations by leading e-sports athletes, plus interactive corners where you can try cosplay, e-sports and more. Nakayama Midori began creating artworks depicting dogs and cats from her memories of her family's beloved pet dog. With pets now regarded as family members, she received requests to create pieces based on other's pets, and in faithfully creating piece upon piece she developed her unique world of felt art. The 10th Fukuyose-Hina Gathering ~ Fukuyose-Hina Project第10回福よせ雛大集合～福よせ雛プロジェクトSeeking to give unwanted hina dolls a ‘second life’ and promote tourism and vitality in Nagoya and the Chubu region, the Fukuyose-Hina Project began in 2011. Kōnomiya Hadaka Matsuri 国府宮はだか祭With around 10,000 semi-naked men participating, this is one of the largest Hadaka Matsuri (lit. "naked festival") in Japan, attracting some 200,000 spectators each year. The flock of naked men rush to the hall of worship, energetically presenting an offering of naoi-sasa (なおい笹 / green bamboo tied with pieces of cloth [naoi-gire / なおい布] on which men and women unable to participate write their ages and wishes). Kishida Riusei – A Retrospective 「没後90年記念 岸田劉生展」

The painter Kishida Riusei (1891-1929) left an unparalleled impression on Japanese modern art history. Although he is most well-known for his portraits of his beloved daughter, Reiko, Kishida created unique masterpieces across a variety of genres, including still life and landscapes. Kishida observed existence, seeking beauty and pursuing a deep spirituality as he traversed the path of his distinctive style of realistic painting, his aesthetic having a strong influence on young artists exploring new art. This is a day to celebrate girls. Because it is held when the peach blossoms bloom, it is called Momo no Sekku (“Peach Season Festival”). Hina dolls representing an imperial wedding are put on display and girls wear kimono to celebrate their growth. The first Momo no Sekku after a girl is born is called Hatsuzekku (初節句 / はつぜっく) and is especially festive.

March 3: Momo no Sekku / Hinamatsuri, Girls Day 桃の節句 / ひな祭り

Momo no Sekku is celebrated by decorating hina arare (colored, bite-sized rice crackers) and hishimochi (diamond-shaped rice cake), and peach blossoms, drinking shirozake, and having chirashi zushi and a clear soup with clams.
