NAIOP AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE

2014 ___________________________________________________________ 7:00 PM – JAMES KNOTT ENTERS STAGE

Good evening. And welcome to the NAIOP Maryland 2014 Awards of Excellence. We have a sold out crowd tonight and we’ve got a lot of awards to get to. First, I’d like to thank tonight’s sponsors. (Screen shows the sponsors) Your support will help make this a memorable night. And to the Awards Committee – thank you for your tireless efforts to recognize the best of the best in our industry. Your dedication is truly appreciated. I’d also like to thank all of you for coming tonight and showing your support. Our industry is strong because of you. Tonight’s theme is fitting — Changing the Landscape. That’s exactly what our industry is doing every day. We’re making this region better than it ever has been. Tonight’s award recipients represent the significant role commercial real estate has played in changing the landscape in the Baltimore region. NAIOP Maryland is not just about awards, although we do like receiving them. We have become the go-to organization in the region. We are at the highest

membership in our history and we are only getting stronger. As many of you know, NAIOP Maryland has a very strong legislative team that helps protect our industry. We have our own Political Action Committee that contributes financially to local politicians and political candidates who have a true understanding of the importance of vibrant commercial real estate in the State of Maryland. We hope you support our PAC so it can continue to make you stronger. Be sure to mark your calendars for May 15 – our next PAC fundraiser at the home of Leroy Merritt right on the harbor – it’s one of the best views in the city. If you’re interested in attending, see Kate or visit our website. And now, let’s get on with the show. I’d like to have Kate come back up and kick things off. Sit back, enjoy your dinner and together we will celebrate how our industry is changing the landscape.

7:05 PM – KATE SANFT ENTER STAGE

______________________________________________________ (Kate) Thank you, James. NAIOP Maryland’s Awards of Excellence is one

The awards committee — led by Nicole Andrews of ECS Mid-Atlantic, Morgan Gilligan from Stewart Title and Jon Manekin of Colliers — has worked tirelessly sifting through more than 75 nominations, visiting each location, judging the details of the properties

and making the painstaking decisions of who wins these prestigious awards.

AJBP6 Powers Brown Architecture

AJBP6 is a LEED Gold certified office building that was constructed with a great deal of environmental considerations. Tilt Wall construction, like any system, technique or component of the construction process is ever only a piece of a larger set of considerations. For its part Tilt Wall is a site performed method and thus, unlike its cousin precast construction, requires no truck trips to move the finished product to site thus reducing embodied energy and fossil fuel consumption. Resource planning can result in higher use of local materials for forming and working the concrete as well as potential reduction of land fill trips and waste.
