NAMA Ayurvedic Program Listing Application Instructions We invite you to list your Ayurvedic education program(s) on the NAMA website. The listing is for schools and programs; it is not an events calendar. Schools and their programs must be operating legally as defined by their respective state regulations governing post-secondary and vocational schools. All programs will be reviewed and assessed by NAMA according to the most current standards. Education programs will be listed in one of four categories. 1. Programs that meet NAMA 500-hour practitioner level requirements 2. Programs that do not meet NAMA 500-hour practitioner level requirements 3. Programs that are in the format of seminars or intensives 50 hours or fewer 4. Programs that are in the format of correspondence courses Graduates from NAMA-recognized 500-hour Practitioner Level Programs qualify automatically for NAMA 500-Hour Practitioner Level Membership, saving graduates significant time in their application process. Requirements for all Programs: All schools must be operating legally in their state as defined by their respective state regulations governing post- secondary and vocational schools. All information submitted must be consistent throughout the application, including between the school website, print advertising, and state documentation. Requirements for NAMA 500 hour Practitioner Level Program Academic Requirements Total Hours of Education: Minimum of 500 Core Curriculum Hours: Minimum of 350, with at least 300 classroom hours in the presence of a teacher in core curriculum subject matter Peripheral Curriculum Hours: Minimum of 100 Clinical Internship Hours: Minimum of 50. Of these, a minimum of 25 hours must be one-on-one consultation with a client; 25 hours of case management may be spent discussing cases with a supervisor or teacher. Definitions Mode of Delivery: Some programs have a program with different manners of accomplishing the same credentials. This is the description of how the student attends the program (virtual classroom, weekend, residence). Total Hours: The total number of Ayurvedic educational hours that the program offers Core Curriculum Hours: These are hours spent on education in the following areas: Sankhya Philosophy (Sankhya Darshana), 5 Elements (Panchamahabhuta Siddhanta), 3 Doshas (Tridosha Siddhanta), Ayurvedic Anatomy & Physiology (Sharira Rachana & Kriya Sharira), Prana, Tejas & Ojas, 6 Tastes (Shadrasa), Daily Regimen (Dinacharya), Seasons (Ritucharya), Digestion & Diet (Agni Vyavahara & Ahara Vijnana), Herbology (Dravyaguna Vijnana), Pathology (Nidan & Vikriti Vijnana), Disease Management (Kaya Chikitsa), Diagnostics (Rogi Roga Pariksha), Assessment/Evaluation (Atur Parikshan / Parichay), Ayurvedic Psychology (Manovijnana & Manasaroga), Panchakarma Theory (Panchakarma Chikitsa), Yoga Therapy, 5 Sense Therapies (Panchendriya: diet, herbs, aromas, sound, touch, color) Peripheral Subjects: These are related subject material such as, but not limited to: 1. Western anatomy & physiology, 2. Sanskrit, 3. Jyotish, 4. Vastu, 5. Yoga. These hours may also be fulfilled with hours in core subject material above the 350 hour minimum.

  • Clinical Internship: Twenty-five hours must be spent in one-to-one sessions with a client in consultation. The other twenty-five hours of case management may be spent discussing cases with a supervisor or teacher, or in the classroom setting.

    Classroom Hours: These are hours spent in the direct presence of a teacher and include classroom hours as well as apprenticeship. Live interactive video and audio class instruction (virtual classroom instruction) counts as instruction in the presence of a teacher.

    Legally Operating: The operation of the school is not violating any state laws governing schools or programs. All schools must be operating legally in their state as defined by their respective state regulations governing post-secondary and vocational schools.

    Items you need to send:

    • Completed Application (use a separate form for each program you would like to be listed): There is an application for the Practitioner Level programs and a different application for all other programs.• A copy of your state-issued license • The non-refundable application fee as per the table below: There is a separate fee for each program.

    *Programs with multiple Modes of Delivery: The initial fee is as stated in the Fee Schedule. For each additional version of the same program credential, as defined by a distinct Mode of Delivery, an additional fee of 50% of the original is required.

    Example: If a program that offers a specific Practitioner Credential can be accomplished in either a weekend format ($200), residence format ($100) or in a virtual classroom ($100), the programs fees would be $400 total. These program formats would be noted accordingly in the public listing.
