Texas involvement in Mexican Independence:-Filibusters and pirates-Gutierrez-Magee Expedition—encouraged by the rebellion started by Father Hidalgo and proclaimed Texas independent from Spain (but failed)-Long Expedition—James Long led a group from Mississippi to Nacogdoches and declared Texas independence (captured and shot)Mexican Federal Constitution of 1824:written after Mexico gains independence from Spain and created a representative federal republic with Catholicism as the official religion.
