• Provided the spectral AOD data from ARFINET stations for the period 2000-2010 to the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy for developing solar energy models for National Solar Energy Mission

• Contributed to extensive capacity building in the field of the science of atmospheric aerosols, their microphysics and radiative impacts, resulting in a proliferation of this field in this region

• Conceived and led from the front major field campaigns (ICARB - Integrated Campaign for Aerosols, gases and Radiation Budget & W- ICARB), the biggest of their kind, for aerosol investigations over the ocean(dedicated and specially instrumented research ship), land (ARFINET stations) and atmosphere (instrumented aircraft) drawing scientists from a all national laboratories, research institutions and universities, inculcating the mode of collective teamwork, and leading to the discovery of the meridional gradient in the lower atmospheric warming by elevated aerosol layers over Indian mainland
