Name of Documentary

We named our documentary “Coventry Crackdown: The Westgate Robbery”.

We wanted to give the idea that “Coventry Crackdown” was an episode like CrimeWatch in itself, but “The Westgate Robbery” was a one off special about the dangerous criminal Toby Westgate.

We wanted the name to look as if it had been typed on an old fashioned typewriter, and on the documentary, we inserted the sound of the type writer to make it sound more professional.

We presented it as white writing on a black background as we wanted the text to really stand out.

We didn’t want the colours to be bright and vibrant because we didn’t want to portray the episode as being happy and positive.

Logo

I didn’t use a logo for my documentary because I didn’t think that it was a needed convention of a documentary.

Every documentary that I had researched prior to the production of the documentary.

However my institution has a logo, but has been brightened to make the name stand out and catch the eye of the viewer, which my group decided could be a good advertising technique.

Institution

I modelled my documentary on those shown on Channel 4. Channel 4 shows documentaries that are one offs, compared to those

shown on the BBC, which tend to be series bases, such as CrimeWatch.

Although my documentary is influenced by CrimeWatch, in terms of using a news room and re-enactment scenes, it is a one off documentary, which is also why the name of the documentary is so specific, “Coventry Crackdown: The Westgate Robbery”

I chose to name by institution JME Productions, as it has a personal touch, being the initials of all the group members.
