SHADOW IN LIGHTA light realized by rapid prototyping

2014.03 ~ 2014.12 I Personal Project I Graduation Work

Page 5: NAMHEE KIM_Portfolio.compressed

Delicate shape of this light is realized by 3D printing; Rapid prototyping. This is designed complicate structure with detailed pattern to express the light exqusite. Moving shadow generated inside the cover is showed by using plastic material which is white and thin and emiting the light.

Unified design shape with free curved frame & saddle curve

Handle part : LCD, free position

Handle for assistant

Free directing function

BackgroundOriginally, there are stroller type and roll type devices as walking assist equipment. But pedestrian can’t use their hand freely on the roll type equipment, besides stroller type needs other assistant to draw it all the time. In addition, the change of direction is restrictive, it doesn’t provide appropriate usability for the elderly without power.

Insight

Solution- Omni wheel to move any direction freely- Application of the saddle slide assist seating behavior- The frame for LCD on the front part and handle on the back are designed as a unity of frame shape- The Saddle curved surface applied and the handle show organic movement by gear structure

Needs- Improve the functionality as an assistant- Consider the movement for secure seating- Install handle on the back for assistant and LCD pad for user- Ergonomic saddle design- Support for user hands
