Getting Started The NANP stands for the National Association of Nutrition Professionals. It is a non-profit business organization that is responsible for training and certifying students on the topic of holistic nutrition. As a graduate of the Institute of Transformational Nutrition you qualify to both apply for a Professional Membership with the NANP as well as sit for the NANP Holistic Board Exam. The NANP Holistic Board Exam is intended to increase the credibility of the holistic nutrition field by setting standards that are desirable in any holistic nutrition professional or consulting business. Completion of the NANP Holistic Board Exam earns you the professional recognition of being “Board Certified in Holistic Nutrition®.” Being board certified provides you with the following:

• Extra credibility that proves you have met and continue to meet all standards that are required by the NANP

• Reassurance for your clients that you will handle yourself in the most professional manner possible and will conduct your business within your legal scope

• Validation and documentation of your studies and qualifications • The opportunity to be part of a large organization composed of other holistic

health professionals Topics covered on the board exam include anatomy, physiology, fundamentals of nutrition and diet, practicing nutrition in the community, and research skills. All of these topics are further broken down into specific key concepts. In depth coverage of the key concepts can be found within the ITN content as well as the books on the recommended reading list provided by the NANP. All of this information and more is clearly outlined on the NANP website and in the NANP Board Exam Study Guide. VISIT THE NANP WEBSITE NOW

Study Tips 1. Visit the NANP website and review all of information available about taking the board

exam and becoming a Professional Member with the NANP

2. Get and read through the NANP Board Exam Study Guide. Start gathering required materials and working through all of the steps needed before you can send in an application to take the board exam.

3. Purchase and study the books from the NANP recommended reading. Questions from the exam are taken directly from the topics covered in these books. We recommend using the index of these books to locate the key concepts and make your study time more efficient.

4. Create a study plan. Decide whether you plan on studying solo or with others, and then divide the key concepts into a scheduled study plan based on the time you have available for study. For example, there are 158 key concepts and you know based on your other commitments you can manage studying 6-7 of them per week. That means it will take you about 26 weeks to cover all of them. Creating a detailed schedule to follow is recommended to help keep you track.

5. Review the key concepts before you begin and plan to spend more time on the areas you aren’t strong in. Splitting up the ones that are tough into different weeks can help prevent information overload.

6. Use the flash cards and practice exams provided in this Prep Course often to help you master the material and test your progress.

7. Take care of yourself! You know as a Certified Transformational Nutrition Coach the importance of extreme self-care. Make sure to boost your body and your brain with plenty of rest, nutrients, and stress relieving techniques to ensure you go into the exam confident, relaxed, and on top of your game.

8. Work together with your fellow classmates to split up the study materials, quiz each other, and support and encourage one another during this process. You’re all in this together!
