DESCRIPTION

Correspondence with Wendy Lay, Executive Director of the Nevada Board of Examiners for Alcohol, Drug and Gambling Counselors requesting she investigate the unlicensed Narconon Nevada aka Narconon Rainbow Canyon counselor promoting on the internet that he is licensed. Turns out none of the counselors at this facility are licensed by the state, nor is the facility itself licensed. They managed to get aroud the facility licensing by stating they are a vocational rehabilitation company. This letter shows that the state ordered a cease and desist letter to the facility.

Dear Ms. McConnell,

I have issued a cease and desist order to Chris Marino and have requested that the facility in Caliente provide

me with a list of all counselors providing alcohol and drug services and documentation of their licensure.

Can you provide me with a copy of the documentation that you sent to SAPTA and the Office of Consumer

Affairs. Evidently SAPTA cannot pursue anything since the organization has not requested any funding from

them and therefore there is no requirement for licensure with them. However, the law (NRS 641C.900 & 910 &

950) is very clear when it comes to licensure of individual counselors within the State of Nevada providing Drug

& Alcohol trreatment services.

Your assistance is appreciated.

Dear Ms. Lay,

Thank you very much for verifying that Chris Marino is NOT a NV licensed counselor. I already called SAPTA

last thursday and was told that the facility license was revoked in 2005. Your verification reply will be included

in the report we are sending out tomorrow to SAPTA and the Attorney General office of Consumer Affairs.

Sincerely,

Mary McConnell
