DRUG SITUATION REPORT/SIGNIFICANT EVENTS

REPORT FOR INDIA FOR THE MONTH OF

SEPTEMBER 2017

This report is based on the information received from

various State and Central drug law enforcement agencies

till the end of September 2017. Significant seizures effected

earlier but reported during September 2017 are also

incorporated in this report.

SEIZURES EFFECTED IN THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER, 2017

On 01.09.2017, officers of NCB, Ranchi Sub Zone seized 14.050 kg of Ganja at Bhurkund. 01 person was arrested.

On 02.09.2017, officers of NCB, Bhubaneswar Sub Zone seized 38 kg of Ganja at Baramunda Bus Stand, Bhubaneswar. 03 persons were arrested.

On 02.09.2017, officers of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Silchar seized 1413.600 kg of Ganja at Silchar. 02 persons were arrested.

On 05.09.2017, officers of NCB, Mumbai Zonal Unit intercepted a parcel at M/s Aramex India Pvt. Ltd., Andheri (E), Mumbai and seized 1.260 kg of Amphetamine. The suspected destination of the seized drug was Australia.

On 07.09.2017, officers of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Agartala seized 53,600 bottles of Phensedyl Cough Syrup at NH-44 near CRPF Camp, Jeolcherra (Abmassa), Tripura. The suspected destination of the seized drug was Bangladesh.

On 09.09.2017, officers of NCB, Chandigarh Zonal Unit seized 5.270 kg of Opium and 2.100 kg of Poppy Straw along with Indian currency of Rs.2,30,000/-. 01 person was arrested.

On 11.09.2017, officers of NCB, Kolkata Zonal Unit seized 1.000 kg of Opium at Golupganj, Gouasari Link Road, near Ramnagar, PS Kaliachak, Malda, West Bengal. 02 persons were arrested.

On 11.09.2017, officers of NCB, Ranchi Sub Zone seized 22.300 kg of Ganja at New Madhukam, Ranchi. 01 person was arrested.

On 13.09.2017, officers of NCB, Bhubaneswar Sub Zone seized 2100 bottles of Phensedyl Cough Syrup at Balaji Cargo Forwarder, Budheswari Colony, PS-Laxmisagar, Bhubaneswar.

On 14.09.2017, officers of NCB, Patna Zonal Unit seized 300 kg of Ganja near Chandan Line Hotel, Shivnar, PS Mokhama, Patna. 05 persons were arrested.

On 15.09.2017, officers of State Police, Odisha seized 1172.845 kg of Ganja near Balimela Chhhaka Perol Pump, PS Orkel, Malkangiri. 03 persons were arrested.

On 16.09.2017, officers of NCB, Ranchi Sub Zone seized 4.150 kg of Opium near Hotel Park Prime, Morabadi, Ranchi. 02 persons were arrested.

On 16.09.2017, acting on information provided by NCB, Delhi Zonal Unit the officers of NCB, Chennai Zonal Unit seized 22.000 kg of Ephedrine at Platform No.5, Chennai Central Railway Station from Tamilnadu Express Train coming from New Delhi. 01 Malawian national was arrested.

On 16.09.2017, officers of NCB, Amritsar Sub Zone in coordination with BSF, Bharopal, Amritsar, Punjab seized 670 gram of Heroin. The suspected source of the seized drug was South West Asia.

On 16.09.2017, officers of NCB, Patna Zonal Unit in coordination of SSB seized 102.050 kg of Hashish at Narkatiaganja, Bihar. 01 person was arrested. The suspected source of the seized drug was Nepal.

On 17.09.2017, offices of NCB, Bhubaneswar Sub Zone seized 1190 kg of Ganja at Chitrakonda, Malkangiri, Odisha. 02 persons were arrested.

On 18.09.2017, officers of NCB, Amritsar Sub Zone in coordination with BSF, Jalalabad, Amritsar, Punjab seized 11.020 kg of Heroin. The suspected source of the seized drug was South West Asia.

On 18.09.2017, officers of NCB, Amritsar Sub Zone in coordination with BSF, Jalalabad, Amritsar, Punjab seized 990 gram of Heroin. The suspected source of the seized drug was South West Asia.

On 18.09.2017, officers of NCB, Mumbai Zonal Unit seized 20.000 kg of Ephedrine at Borivali Railway Station, Mumbai. 02 Nigerian nationals were arrested. The suspected destination of the seized drug was South Africa.

On 18.09.2017, officers of NCB, Lucknow Zonal Unit seized 700 gram of Heroin and 50 gram of Methaqualone at Shaheed Path, Lucknow. 02 persons were arrested.

On 19.09.2017, officers of Central Bureau of Narcotics, Kota seized 605 gram of Heroin in front of Hanuman Dharm Kanta, Gobria Bawdi Chouraha, Kota-Jhalawar Road, Kota. 02 person were arrested.

On 20.09.2017, officers of NCB, Ranchi Sub Zone seized 225 kg of Ganja at Dulmi, Dist, Ramgarh. 01 person was arrested.

On 20.09.2017, officers of NCB, Patna Zonal Unit seized 900 kg of Ganja at Barauni. 01 person was arrested.

On 20.09.2017, officers of NCB, Amritsar Sub Zone in coordination with 32nd Bn. BSF, Ajnala seized 03.970 kg of Heroin at BOP Shahpur, Ajnala, Amritsar, Punjab along with 01 AK 47, 01 Pistol, 27 live rounds, Pakistani currency of Rs.20,000/-. During the operation 02 Pakistani smugglers were killed. The arms and 02 dead bodies of Pak smugglers were handed over to Punjab police for further necessary action as per law. A crime case vide NCB Chandigarh crime No. 60/2017 was registered.

From 20.09.2017 to 25.09.2017, officers of NCB, Dehradun Sub Zone in coordination with State authorities destroyed illicit cultivation of cannabis spread over 30.213 Acre of land in district Bageshwar.

On 21.09.2017, officers of State Police, Goa seized 200 gram of Ganja and 30 gram of Cocaine at Arambol, Pernem, Goa. 01 Nigerian national was arrested.

On 22.09.2017, officers of NCB, Kolkata Zonal Unit seized 60 kg of Ganja near Balaram Hotel, Alampur More, NH-16, Howrah, West Bengal. 03 persons were arrested.

On 23.09.2017, officers of NCB, Amritsar Sub Zone in coordination with BSF, Amarkot, Tarn Taran, Punjab seized 3.570 kg of Heroin. 02 persons were arrested. The suspected source of the seized drug was South West Asia.

On 23.09.2017, officers of NCB, Lucknow Zonal Unit arrested 02 persons along with Indian Currency of Rs.6,17,050/- at Shaheed Path-Sultanpur Junction point road, Lucknow. The said amount was earned by accused after the sale of 350 gram of Heroin.

On 25.09.2017, officers of NCB, Amritsar Sub Zone in coordination with BSF, Khemkaran, Punjab seized 100 gram of Heroin. The suspected source of the seized drug was South West Asia.

On 25.09.2017, officers of NCB, Jammu Zonal Unit seized 12.568 kg of Hashish in front of Jammu Railway Station. 01 person was arrested.

On 26.09.2017, officers of NCB, Kolkata Zonal Unit seized 2.900 kg of Opium at Mothabari market area on link road toward Kaliachak, Malda, West Bengal. 02 persons were arrested.

On 26.09.2017, officers of NCB, Jammu Zonal Unit seized 10.000 kg of Hashish at Kunjwani bye pass, Jammu. 02 persons were arrested.

On 26.09.2017, officers of NCB, Patna Zonal Unit seized 1.900 kg of Heroin at Mastan, PWD Chowk towards Bahadurganj Road. 02 persons were arrested.

On 27.09.2017, officers of Customs, Shillong seized 2068.340 kg of Ganja at NH-44, East Khasi Hills, Meghalaya. 01 person was arrested.
