Chicago, IL - When writing the famous words, cited above,to George Washington, Pulaski didn’t know that at the age of34, he would pay for his beliefs with his life and that he wouldbe named the “Father of the American Cavalry.” Once again the memory and the heroism of GeneralCasimir Pulaski was honored at the official Pulaski DayCelebration and wreath-laying ceremony on Monday, March 7,2016. The event was hosted by the Polish Museum of Americaand the Polish Roman Catholic Union of America at the PMA’sSabina P. Logisz Great Hall in Chicago, IL, which was filled tocapacity with patriotic Polish Americans and guests. The program began with PMA Managing DirectorMalgorzata Kot welcoming representatives of all levels ofnational, state, county and city government, as well as otherdistinguished guests. The Polish and American NationalAnthems were led by Mirosława Sojka-Topor, accompanied onthe piano by Luciano Laurentiu. This was followed by anInvocation given by His Excellency Andrew P. Wypych,Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Chicago. PMA Historian Jan Lorys gave a brief introduction on thehistory of Polish and American military cooperation and thePartnership for Peace Program aimed at creating a bilateralrelationship between NATO and the European countries. Masters of Ceremonies PMA President Richard Owsianyand PRCUA President and PMA Board Chairman Joseph A.

Drobot, Jr. took turns introducing the speakers. Among thespeakers were: Hon. Robert Rusiecki, Consul of the Republicof Poland in Chicago; Hon. Rahm Emanuel, Mayor of the Cityof Chicago; Hon. Bob Dold, U.S. Representative, 10 Dist. (IL);Michael Frerichs, State of Illinois Treasurer, Hon. MariaPappas, Cook Country Treasurer; Hon. Leslie Geisler Munger,State of Illinois Comptroller; Hon. Toni Preckwinkle, Presidentof the Cook County Board; Hon. Dorothy Brown, Clerk of theCircuit Court of Cook County; Hon. Kurt Summers, City ofChicago Treasurer; Hon. Susana Mendoza, City Clerk ofChicago; Hon. Timothy Evans, Chief Judge of the CircuitCourt of Cook County; Hon. Aurelia Pucinski, IllinoisAppellate Court Judge; Frank Spula, President of the PolishAmerican Congress and Polish National Alliance; and Hon.Ariel Reboyras, Alderman, 30th Ward Chicago. Although State of Illinois Governor Hon. Bruce Raunerwas unable to attend, he sent a Proclamation which was readby PRCUA Vice President Micheline Jaminski. Also unable toattend were U.S. Senator Mark Kirk and U.S. Representative,5th Dist. (IL) Michael Quigley, who both sent letters that wereread by representatives from their offices. 1,050th Anniversary of Christianization of Poland The year 2016 marks the 1050th anniversary of the Baptism ofPoland (Chrzest Polski), the personal Baptism of Mieszko I - the firsthistorical ruler of Poland - followed by the baptism of the Polishpeople and the Christianization of the land. According to the earlyMedieval chronicle (Rocznik Kapituły Krakowskiej), the ceremonytook place on Holy Saturday, April 14, 966. The location of thissignificant event is disputed by historians who suggest that themost likely sites would have been: Gniezno, Poznań, OstrówLednicki in Poland, Regensburg or Cologne in Germany, and Romein Italy. Before the adoption of Christianity, Poland was a pagancountry, inhabited by several Slavic tribes, most of whomworshiped the pagan god Svetovid. Mieszko I was the son of Siemomysł, a ruler of the Piastdynasty, a family belonging to the Slavic tribe of Polans (akaPolanie). Polans occupied most of Wielkopolska (Greater Poland),and the town of Gniezno was probably their family seat. Mieszko’s Baptism was influenced by his wife, Dobrava ofBohemia, a Czech princess and zealous Christian. Through theChristianization of Poland, Mieszko hoped to unite the tribes ofPoland, strenghten his authority as a ruler, and protect Poland’swestern border from the German Holy Roman Empire, which couldno longer use Christianization as a motive for attacking the Poles. The Christianization of Poland enabled Poland to become partof the Western Latin civilization, as compared with the Russians to

the East who adopted Eastern Orthodox Christianity. Subsequently,by adopting Catholicism from the West, through Czech mediation,Poland also adopted Latin liturgical traditions and the Latinalphabet. It also brought to Poland Latin church architecture,Roman law, education and the internal reforms such as theorganization of the Church, an administrative system anddiplomacy. At the time of Mieszko’s Baptism, the Piasts ruled over theregions of Wielkopolska (West Central Poland), Kuyavia (NorthCentral Poland) and parts of Mazovia (Mid-Northeastern Poland).Their rulership later spread to other areas, and by the year 992 itincluded Silesia (Southwestern Poland), Malopolska (South CentralPoland) and Pomerania (Northwestern Poland). In 1966, Poland celebrated its 1,000th Anniversary ofChristianity with large festivities - both religious, celebrated by theChurch, and secular, celebrated by the State - under the slogan “AThousand Years of the Polish Nation” (Tysiąclecie Państwa Polskiego.) The millenium of Polish Christianity was also celebrated inmany cities in the United States. In Chicago, numerous events wereorganized, including the main celebration of a solemn Mass,celebrated by Most Rev. John P. Cody, Archbishop of Chicago atSoldiers Field Stadium on August 28, 1966. This year, Chicagoland Polish-Americans will commemoratethe 1,050th Anniversary of the Christianization of Poland with themain events organized on August 28, 2016 in Merrillville, Indiana.

PRCUA ORPHAN BENEFITWHO IS ELIGIBLE? Any child, natural or legally adopted of both parents. An orphan is defined as achild who becomes fully orphaned by the death of his or her lawful parents.

PARENTS REQUIREMENTSBoth parents must be insured members of the Polish Roman Catholic Union ofAmerica. Each parent must have a permanent insurance certificate in the amount of$5,000 or more in force at the time of their death.

ORPHAN BENEFITSOrphan benefits become effective the month following the approval of the OrphanBenefit application. The Orphan Benefit allowance will be in accordance with thefollowing schedule:

Ages Monthly Benefit: 0-5 - $50.00 6-13 $75.00 14-18 $100.00

The Orphan Benefit will cease at age 19, if and when the orphan is adopted, marriesor becomes self supporting. The Orphan Benefit may be paid to the legal guardian,person, or persons who have become responsible for the orphan.

The deadline for individual retirement account contributions isusually the same date your tax return is due, which is typicallyaround April 15th. However, several holidays have changed the duedate for IRA contributions, and your deadline for 2015 depositsdepends on the state in which you live.

Different due dates. For most people, IRA contributions for tax‐year 2015 are due by April 18, 2016. The tax deadline was pushedback nationwide due to the Emancipation Day holiday in the Districtof Columbia. However, residents of Maine and Massachusetts haveuntil April 19, 2016 to make 2015 IRA contributions due to thePatriots' Day holiday celebrated in these states.

PRCUA National President Joseph A. Drobot, Jr. has been asked by HowardCraig, Provincial Assistant for Advancement, from the Midwest Jesuits to help withthe program MAGIS 2016. What is MAGIS 2016?

This program is specifically designed for young Catholics to enrich their spiritualformation, to engage them in the disciplines of Ignatian spirituality, and to provideopportunities for service to Christ and the Church.

This summer, young people from around the globe will be attending WorldYouth Day, July 26 - 31, 2016 in Krakow, Poland. As local Jesuits have done precedingWorld Youth Day events in the past, the Jesuits of the South Poland Province aregoing to host an Ignatian Experience from July 17-23, the week before World YouthDay.

The committee for MAGIS 2016 has established a scholarship fund to allowyoung people from developing nations to attend the seminar. The Midwest Jesuitsare seeking funds to help provide scholarships for these less fortunate young peoplewho want to attend this unique spiritual event.

PRCUA Supports Participationin World Youth Day

Chicago, IL – The Polish Roman Catholic Union ofAmerica is proud to announce its support of PRCUAyouth who will participate in the 2016 World Youth Day(WYD). To encourage participation in this momentousevent, the PRCUA has established a stipend of $100 forany member of the PRCUA between the ages of 13 and 21years who will be attending the World Youth Day. Romulus, MI - The 82nd Annual PRCUABasketball Tournament was held at RomulusHigh School in Romulus, MI on Saturday,March 5th. It was hosted by Father Al’sSociety PRCUA #1493. This tournament hadteams from the Detroit area, East Chicago,Muskegon, Wyandotte, and Big Rapids.There were three divisions: 10 teams in theMen’s Open Division, 3 teams in the Men’sOver 50 3-on-3 Division and 2 teams in theLadies’ 3-on-3 Division. Games started at 8:00 a.m. with a twogame opening round for the Men’s Open.After the two games were played, the teamswere seeded into “A” and “B” brackets. TheLadies’ 3-on-3 Division and Men’s Over 50Divisions played between the morning andafternoon sessions of the Men’s Open. EachDivision played a round robin to see whowould play for the championship. Lunch was provided for the players inthe gym hallway. The players had a choice ofa hot dog, sloppy joe, or veggie tray, alongwith a drink, chips and homemade desserts.Thanks go out to Linda Mikus, Mary AnnShelton, John Shelton, and Courtney Ozog forproviding and working the lunch. Alsoavailable throughout the day was a table ofPolish items and raffle tickets. Thanks go toJoann Ozog, PRCUA President EmeritusWallace Ozog, Eleanor Bielenda and GraceOzog for working at that table. Father Al’s Society would like to thankall of those who were sponsors or whosupported the raffles at the National PRCUABasketball Tournament. Appreciation is extended to all of thosewho participated in the National PRCUABasketball Tournament as players, sponsors,raffle buyers or supporters. It is because ofall of you that such events are possible andsuccessful. This is what fraternalism is allabout. At noon, National President Joseph A.Drobot Jr. opened the noon games with theceremonial jump ball. The Men’s OpenDivision started bracket play in the afternoonat 1:00 p.m. In the “B” bracket, Fr. Al’s cameout strong and upset St. Michael’s ofMuskegon in the 1st round. In the 2nd roundthey lost to Dare Bar from Society #718. Inthe “A” bracket, Aces faced top seeded

Taskforce, both from East Chicago. In themorning games, Taskforce defeated Aces. Butthe afternoon belonged to Aces, who won 52-43. The finals in the “B” bracket saw theBelczak Family versus Dare Bar, both from St.Stan's Society #718. The “A” bracket had lastyear’s winner Poundtown Express from #162vs. Aces of East Chicago. The Belczak Familycame out on top of the “B” bracket. Aces andPoundtown Express, from Wyandotte, MI,played hard until the end. There was onlyone point separating them but Aces came outon top 39-38. The day concluded with a dinner at theRomulus Progressive Club in Romulus, MI.A buffet style dinner with a cash bar wasprovided. PRCUA National Secretary-Treasurer James Robaczewski offered aprayer before the meal. Music and dancinglasted until 11:00 p.m.

PULASKI DAY (Continued from pg. 1) on the “For your freedom and ours” slogan and spoke about how it can be applied intoday’s world - politics, economic cooperation, cultural and educational exchange,military alliances - to mitigate conflicts and build a common future for many nations. Mayor Rahm Emanuel remarked about the long history and the vision of ideals offreedom shared between the people of Poland and the U.S. and how the lives of manyPolish people and the history of Chicago are intertwined. He also commented that theU.S. - by not granting Poland admission to the Visa Waver Program - is being unfairand unjust to Polish citizens, who are being treated as second-class citizens. U.S. Representative Bob Dold also addressed the issue of the Visa Waver Program,stating that it is vital to open doors for the U.S. friends and allies and to help Polishcitizens to be able to freely travel to the U.S. PAC and PNA President Frank Spula remarked about how Polish-Americans arebenefiting from what Pulaski had done to secure justice and liberty and how proud thePolish community should be of its history and culture.  He also encouraged Polonia tobecome more engaged in political life in the U.S. Judge Aurelia Pucinski also emphasized the importance and need of AmericanPolonia to participate in the political life. She acknowledged the veterans present atthe event for sharing the same values as Casimir Pulaski and thanked them for takingan active part in securing our freedom and independence. Judge Timothy Evans praised Pulaski for his gallantry, brilliance, courage, andexpertise and the Polish community for sharing the same values at present times. Heremarked that there are many Polish-Americans who serve as judges and in otherjudicial capacities, and asked the ones present at the ceremony to stand up and beacknowledged. Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County Dorothy Brown expressed how honoredshe was to be able to celebrate the great General whose determination and couragerepresent the universal ideals of resistance to oppression. Inna Murray, PNC Bank Executive Vice President, assured Polonia of PNC’scontinued support for the Polish Museum of America. A wreath of red and white flowers was laid at the “Pulaski at Savannah” paintingby Consul Robert Rusiecki, Pres. Joseph Drobot, Jr., and two Life Members of thePMA, Geraldine Balut Coleman and Rosalie Lindberg. Both Chris and his sister, Meagan, a 2012Magna Cum Laude honors graduate of LoyolaUniversity Chicago (BA - Communications andPolitical Science), received PRCUA educationalgrants and scholarships during theireducational pursuits at Purdue and Loyola. Chris and Meagan are lifetime members ofPRCUA St. Joseph the Worker Society #1579and come from a long PRCUA lineage.Grandparents Richard and Rita Saunders wereamong the founding families of St. Joseph theWorker Society #1579. They served on theSociety’s Executive Board for many years invarious positions, and were instrumental inhelping Barbara Pawlowski establish thePRCUA South Chicago Polish Dancers in the 1970s. Richard attended the last twoPRCUA National Conventions in both Toledo and Chicago as a delegate, mom Ruthand Aunt Rose were among the original members of the PRCUA South ChicagoPolish Dance Group that met at the St. Mary Magdalene campus. St. Stan’s Society #718One Game Knockout (1GKO)

Dearborn Hts., MI – On February 20, 2016, St. Stan’sSociety #718 held its 14th Annual Bowling One Game Knockout (aka1GKO) at Cherry Hill Lanes in Dearborn Heights, MI. There were 56 men and 22 women who participated in bowlingand many other guests joined them for dinner afterward. TheKnockout anddinner areopen tom e m b e r sfrom allP R C U ASocieties, aswell as theirfamily andfriends. Wewould like tothank all ofthose whoparticipated. In themen’s fifth and final round, Ben Kolano beat out Joe Paja and MarkNasiatka for the championship. Joe Paja held on for second place. Inthe women’s bracket, Janet Palmer took the title, followed by DawnSheldon in second place. In addition to the bracket play, there was a chance for someone towin a “Blackjack (21 Pin)” challenge. Each participant was given thechance to knock down exactly 21 pins in 3 balls. Out of 32 attemptsat “Blackjack”, 6 people ended up in a roll-off for the winnings. Afterhitting 3 strikes in a row, Bernie Gauvin was the winner. This newchallenge added excitement to the day. Thank you to Ron and Barbara Bak, the previous chairpersons,for all of their assistance in making the day run smoothly. Thanksalso go out to Harry Muszynski, Ernie Pindza, and Renee Szelag forhandling the jackpots and 50/50 raffles. We hope to see everyone again next year. Remember that allfamily and friends are invited as well, so spread the word that a greattime was had by all!

Preliminary Statement

The following Amendments to the Constitution of the Polish Roman Catholic Union ofAmerica were adopted by the Delegates to the 61st National Quadrennial Conventionon August 11, 2014.

Amendments Adopted at the Convention

1. There was an amendment to Section Four, Article 04A Executive Power, Paragraph 4, of the Constitution, By-Laws, Procedures & Documents, which currently reads: 4. The Board of Directors at a Board Session shall fill all vacancies except the office of the President, which office is assumed automatically by the Vice-President. Such succession to any vacancy shall be valid until the next Convention.

Following the amendment, Section Four, Article 04A Executive Power, Paragraph 4, ofthe Constitution, By-Laws, Procedures & Documents, will now read: 4. In the event of a vacancy to the office of President by death, resignation or permanent disability, the Vice President shall immediately succeed. In the event that the Vice President either cannot or refuses to perform the duties of the office of the President, the Secretary-Treasurer shall assume the Presidency until the next Convention.

The Board of Directors then must go about the business of replacing the vacated position of Vice President or Secretary-Treasurer according to the procedure outlined in the Constitution of the Polish Roman Catholic Union of America.

Should the Secretary-Treasurer also choose not to assume the position of President, then the Secretary-Treasurer shall give notice and call for a special meeting of the Board of Directors of the Union within 30 days after the vacancy for President has been declared for the purpose of filling that existing vacancy.

The Vice President assumes the position of “President Pro-Tem” until an Interim President is elected.

The vacancy for President shall be filled by a current member of the Board who is deemed to be in good standing, by a two-thirds majority vote of the regular voting members of the Board. The person elected as “Interim President” shall then fill the remainder of the existing term of office.

The “Interim President” shall serve and have the same powers and duties of the President until such time as the regularly scheduled elections are held at the next Quadrennial Convention of the Union.

2. There was an amendment to Section Four, Article 04D, Elected Officers’ Duties, of the Constitution, By-Laws, Procedures & Documents, which currently reads: 1. All elected and appointed Officers of the UNION shall perform their duties as prescribed by the Insurance statutes and laws, Constitution and By-Laws of the UNION, and approved actions of the Convention.

2. The President of the UNION a. presides at all meetings of the Board of Directors; b. presides at the Convention until a Convention Chair is elected; c. votes at the Board of Directors meeting only when the votes are equally divided, with the exception of elections or in case of the removal of one of the Officers; d. shall perform all duties incident to the office of President and shall see that all orders and resolutions of the Board of Directors are performed; e. reports to the Board of Directors on his official activities; f. subject to the direction of the Board of Directors, shall have general charge of the business affairs and property of the Organization and general supervision over its Officers, employees, and agents; g. the President, or any other Officer of the Organization appointed or designated by the President (and such other Officers as are authorized by resolution of the Board of Directors), may execute bonds, notes and other evidence of indebtedness, mortgages, contracts, leases, and other agreements except where such documents are required by law to be otherwise signed, and except where the signing thereof is exclusively delegated to some other Officer or employee of the Organization by the Board of Directors. All official UNION documents shall bear the signatures of two Executive Committee members or their appointed representatives.

3. The Vice-President shall also be presiding Officer of the Fraternal Department of the UNION. In the case of the removal of the President from office, or of his

death, resignation, or inability to discharge the powers and duties of said office, the same shall devolve on the Vice-President.

4. The Secretary-Treasurer a. shall keep the minutes of the Board of Directors; b. shall report in detail at the sessions of the Board of Directors, and more often when called upon to do so; he must render an accurate statement of his official action to the Convention; c. shall receive all monies belonging to the UNION and keep an accurate

record thereof. The Secretary-Treasurer makes, upon receipt of proper requisitions signed by the President and the Secretary-Treasurer, payments for mortuary benefits, salaries, etc., and keeps a detailed record of them in his books. The emoluments of his office belong to the UNION; d. shall, at least once each calendar year, furnish a detailed statement of the UNION. The Secretary-Treasurer signs checks according to the resolutions of the Board of Directors adopted at the Board Sessions of the Board of Directors; e. shall see that all notices required to be given by the Organization are duly given and served; f. shall have custody of the seal of the Organization; g. shall have custody of all deeds, leases, contracts and other important corporate documents; shall see that all reports, statements and other documents (except tax returns) required by law to be filed are properly filed; h. shall perform such other duties as are specifically imposed upon him by the Board of Directors.

5. The National Chaplains a. shall have the same duties of Directors noted in Article 4D.6 b. may request that the Board of Directors, who shall appoint, a First Vice Chaplain or Second Vice Chaplain. The duties of the Appointed First Vice Chaplain or Second Vice Chaplain shall be that outlined in Article 04E.

6. The Directors are duty bound to participate in all Board Sessions of the Board of Directors. The Directors a. supervise the locations of funds of the UNION; b. approve the bond of the President and all other Officials of whom a bond is required; c. examine and approve all reports and official actions of the respective Officers and are responsible for the safety, development of, and order of the UNION; d. upon the advice and written recommendation of the UNION’S actuaries, may make an equitable distribution of surplus by the payment of dividends; e. shall be bound to operate within the budget as approved by the Convention and reviewed annually and adjusted accordingly by the Budget Committee.

7. No Officer or Director of the UNION may hold more than one office in the UNION, however, any Officer or Director may not serve on any special Committee of the UNION except Committees of the Board of Directors.

8. No spouse, parents, children or siblings of an Officer or Director shall be salaried employees of the UNION in its offices.

9. No Officer shall transact any of his personal business in the office of the UNION from which he or a member of his immediate family would benefit directly or indirectly.

Following the amendment, Section Three, Article 04D Elected Officers’ Duties, willnow read: 1. All elected and appointed Officers of the UNION shall perform their duties as prescribed by the Insurance statutes and laws, Constitution and By-Laws of the UNION, and approved actions of the Convention.

The President of the UNION a. presides at all meetings of the Board of Directors; b. presides at the Convention until a Convention Chair is elected; c. votes at the Board of Directors meeting only when the votes are equally divided, with the exception of elections or in case of the removal of one of the Officers; d. shall perform all duties incident to the office of President and shall see that all orders and resolutions of the Board of Directors are performed; e. reports to the Board of Directors on his official activities; f. subject to the direction of the Board of Directors, shall have general charge of the business affairs and property of the Organization and general supervision over its Officers, employees, and agents; g. the President, or any other Officer of the Organization appointed or designated by the President (and such other Officers as are authorized by resolution of the Board of Directors), may execute bonds, notes and other evidence of indebtedness, mortgages, contracts, leases, and other agreements except where such documents are required by law to be otherwise signed, and except where the signing thereof is exclusively delegated to some other Officer or employee of the Organization by the Board of Directors. All official UNION documents shall bear the signatures of two Executive Committee members or their appointed representatives.

3. The Vice-President shall also be presiding Officer of the Fraternal Department of the UNION, and shall attend all Board of Directors sessions and shall perform all duties incident to the office or as delegated by the President. In the case of the removal of the President from office, or of his death, resignation, or inability to discharge the powers and duties of said office, the same shall devolve on the Vice- President.

4. The Secretary-Treasurer a. shall keep the minutes of the Board of Directors;

DEADLINE - JUNE 1, 2016 - All school transcripts, GPAscores, other verifications, requirements, and thecompleted application form must be postmarked by June1, 2016 in order to meet the eligibility rules.

b. shall report in detail at the sessions of the Board of Directors, and more often when called upon to do so; he must render an accurate statement of his official action to the Convention; c. shall receive all monies belonging to the UNION and keep an accurate record thereof. The Secretary-Treasurer makes, upon receipt of proper requisitions signed by the President and the Secretary-Treasurer, payments for mortuary benefits, salaries, etc., and keeps a detailed record of them in his books. The emoluments of his office belong to the UNION; d. shall, at least once each calendar year, furnish a detailed financial statement of the UNION to t he Board of Directors. The Secretary-Treasurer signs checks according to the resolutions of the Board of Directors adopted at the Board Sessions of the Board of Directors; e. shall see that all notices required to be given by the Organization are duly given and served; f. shall have custody of the seal of the Organization; g. shall have custody of all deeds, leases, contracts and other important corporate documents; shall see that all reports, statements and other documents required by law to be filed are properly filed; h. shall perform such other duties as are specifically imposed upon him by the Board of Directors.

5. The National Chaplains a. shall have the same duties of Directors noted in Article 4D.6 b. may request that the Board of Directors, who shall appoint, a First Vice Chaplain or Second Vice Chaplain. The duties of the Appointed First Vice Chaplain or Second Vice Chaplain shall be that outlined in Article 04E.

6. The Directors are duty bound to participate in all Board Sessions of the Board of Directors. The Directors

a. supervise the locations of funds of the UNION; b. approve the bond of the President and all other Officials of whom a bond is required; c. examine and approve all reports and official actions of the respective Officers and are responsible for the safety, development of, and order of the UNION; d. upon the advice and written recommendation of the UNION’S actuaries, may make an equitable distribution of surplus by the payment of dividends; e. shall be bound to operate within the budget as approved by the Convention and reviewed annually and adjusted accordingly by the Budget Committee.

7. No Officer or Director of the UNION may hold more than one office in the UNION, however, any Officer or Director may not serve on any special Committee of the UNION except Committees of

the Board of Directors.

8. No spouse, parents, children or siblings of an Officer or Director shall be salaried employees of the UNION in its offices.

9. No Officer shall transact any of his personal business in the office of the UNION from which he or a member of his immediate family would benefit directly or indirectly.

10. Officer and Director Education a. each Officer or Director of the UNION shall complete a board training or orientation program selected and approved by the Executive Committee and paid for by the UNION within six months of his or her election to the Board of Directors that includes information, board duties and responsibilities; b. any Officer or Director of the UNION who fails to comply with Paragraph 10a above shall be removed from office by the Board of Directors by majority vote at a regular Board Session unless the Officer or Director shows good cause for his failure to comply. Any Officer or Director thus removed may demand trial and appeal from the decision of the Board of Directors to the Convention. Said procedure for removal shall be exclusive to this section, notwithstanding the provisions of Article 04A.3.

3. There was an amendment to Section Three, Article 03E Delegates to the Convention, Paragraph 7, which currently reads: 7. All National Officers, Chaplains, Directors during their term and Past Presidents, automatically are Delegates to the National Convention. This does not reduce the delegate count of the Societies in which they belong. They are Delegates-at-Large.

Following the amendment, Section Three, Article 03E Delegates to the Convention, Paragraph 7 of theConstitution, By-Laws, Procedures & Documents, will now read: 7. All National Officers, Chaplains, Directors during their term and Past National Officers, Directors, and Chaplains are automatically delegates to the National Convention. FELICIA KRUPINSKI, 1923-2016 Felicia J. Krupinski (nee Ostry), age 93, passed away on March 18, 2016in Wood Dale, IL. She was the wife of late Richard Krupinski and motherof the late Renee (Krupinski) Lameka. Felicia was extremely proud of her Polish heritage and belonged tomany Polish-American organizations: Knights of Dombrowski (BoardMember), Legion of Young Polish Women, Polish Women Civic Club (past President), PolishArts Club and Polish Women Alliance. She was a Life Member of the Polish Museum ofAmerica, where she loved to tirelessly volunteer her time. Felicia was a happy, up-beatwoman who enjoyed playing the role of Mrs. Santa Claus at the PMA Christmas events. She was laid to rest on Saturday, March 26 at St. Adalbert Cemetery in Niles, IL. In lieu offlowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Polish Museum of America – BookRestoration Fund, 984 N. Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60642. Armed with a vibrant personality, sharp mind, joyous disposition, and a generous heart,Felicia touched the hearts of all whom she encountered. May God grant her Eternal Rest.

"Living the Easter Season"

Unlike the Season of Advent, where you canstruggle to find its existence outside of Churchas society is already overwhelmed with itsversion of "Christmas", the Season of Lent seemsto have much more on its bandwagon ofsupport. Why, all you have to do is open apaper or ride down the street and the "FRIDAYFISH FRY" signs are everywhere. A marketingploy? Of course! But, a gentle reminder ofsomething bigger going on, too? You bet! This is widely reflected in church practices, as well. Certainly frommy own experience, but also verified by many other priests I knowfrom all over, the Season of Lent sees a marked rise in attendance atvarious services. The number of people attending daily Mass is oftennoticeably greater. People who make a point to go to variousdevotions like Stations of the Cross, Gorzkie Zale, Holy Hours, etc. areimpressive. Even if things tend to start off slowly, they don't lose theirsteam but seem, rather, to gather momentum as the 40 days go by.This is certainly true in parishes touched by our Polish-Catholic cultureand traditions, along with long lines for confessions... as long as they'reheld not too far before Easter! (Nobody wants to “blow it” and have togo again!) I write this because often, for us priests, this is a real edifying anduplifting thing to see. Yes, we are all so busy. Yes, everyone's lives areso much more complicated than before. Yes, we've all heard andunderstand the many legitimate reasons/excuses. But, when push-comes-to-shove, there the faithful people are! They find a way to makeit happen when they want to, strongly enough! The universally bigcrowds at all of the Easter Masses are just like an exclamation point toall of this! If one were to inquire of the people making these extra efforts,they would often indicate that they are doing it because it's Lent. Thisis the season for penance, sacrifice, mortification, and so on. Therefore,they want to make a special effort to get to church more often. This is all wonderful and very commendable... except that itindicates an interesting attitude. People tend to associate going tochurch with penance, sacrifice, mortification, and so on. So, during the40 days of Lenten preparation with all of its rigors, we see them there.However, once Lent is over and Easter is upon us, things go back to"normal". It's amazing, really, for Lent as a season of preparation doesn'thave much meaning detached from that which it is leading us to andpreparing us for: Easter. We seem more pleased to go to Mass andextra church services as part of our 40 days of penance but, once theybring us to that for which we have been preparing - the 50 day Seasonof Easter joy in the new life we share in the Lord's resurrection - manystop. Doesn't that strike you as a little backward? If anything, it seemspeople would be more inclined to skip the work and preparation (Lent)and jump right into the celebrating (Easter). Now, I certainly don't want to sound like I am discouraging goodparticipation in the beautiful spiritual opportunities which the Seasonof Lent offers. I'm simply saying that if we observe one, doesn't itmake as much, if not more, sense to also observe the other? Why, bymaking the Easter Season ten days longer than Lent, even the Church,through subtle means, is letting us know where our true focus shouldbe. So, now that Lent is over and Easter Day has come and gone, weenter into that great 50 day season of Easter celebration. Don't let"normal" creep back too soon! Remember that if you can do it out of "obligation" for 40 days, youcan do it in "celebration" for 50! If you can embrace the Lenten Rigors,you can also plunge into Easter's joyful bounty. As I like to remindeveryone at Easter Mass, "Lent's over, so remember to have a doubleportion of everything!" This is certainly most true when it comes to allof the spiritual gifts which this season of new life offers us. Remember:LIVE THE EASTER SEASON!

Theresa L. Cwiek 1921-2016

The PRCUA is deeply saddened by the loss of Theresa L. (neePloski) Cwiek who died on Monday, March 14, 2016 in MountPleasant, MI.

Theresa was born on April 1, 1921 in Hamtramck, MI.  Shewas the daughter of the late Kazimierz and Stanislawa (Olesczynski)

Ploski. In 1930 she moved with her family to Poland. Theresa was arrested by theNazis in 1941 and imprisoned in several places. She returned to Hamtramck, MI in 1942 as part of the WWII prisoner exchangeprogram. On June 16, 1945 she married Mitchell Cwiek in Laredo, TX, where he wasstationed as a Sergeant in the US Army Air Corps. Theresa was very active in Parish activities, serving in various capacities andparticipating in many church and school events. She also enjoyed singing in thechoir. Theresa and her late husband Mitchell Cwiek were loyal members of PRCUASociety #261 in Michigan.  Theresa served as a Supervisor of Deputies in Society #261.She attended local PRCUA events, including meetings of the Orchard Lake LadiesAuxiliary, dance recitals, and bowling tournaments. Her husband Mitchell, wasPRCUA Director of the State of Michigan for 8 years (1962-1970) and he served as amember of the PRCUA National Budget Committee for many years, and then as itsChairman. Theresa attended five PRCUA Conventions as a delegate.  The Cwieks alsoattended PRCUA national sport tournaments and various activities throughout theyears. Both Theresa and Mitch won numerous recognitions over the years for beingamong the top PRCUA life insurance producers. Theresa is survived by four children, Christine (Charles Currey) Knight, Michael(Karen) Cwiek, Mark (Patricia) Cwiek, and David (Maureen) Cwiek, eightgrandchildren, and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass was held on Saturday, March 19 at Sacred Heart Catholic Churchin Mt. Pleasant, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to Polish Museum ofAmerica 984 N. Milwaukee Ave., Chicago IL or Sacred Heart Parish, 302 S KinneyAve, Mt. Pleasant, MI 48858. The Officers, Board of Directors, employees and members of the PRCUA conveythe deepest sympathy to the Cwiek and Knight families. Theresa Cwiek will beremembered as a dedicated PRCUA member, who made many meaningfulcontributions to the organization. May God accept Theresa with open arms for all thegood she has done while she was on this earth.

roku dzień ten wypadał w sobotę, lunch odbył się w piątek, 18 marca. Krótką modlitwę odmówił dyrektor Polskiej Misji Duszpasterskiej św.Trójcy w Chicago, ks. Andrzej Totzke, SChr, a informacje na temat tradycjiStołu św. Józefa przeczytała wiceprezes ZPRKA Micheline Jamiński. Święty Józef jest patronem Kościoła Powszechnego, czystości, rodzin,ojców, kobiet w ciąży, umierających, robotników, pracujących, ubogich, obuAmeryk i tzw. Nowego Świata oraz ekonomistów. Dzień świętego Józefa jest powszechnie obchodzony przez katolikówwe Włoszech, skąd wywodzi sięrównież tradycja “stołu św.Józefa”, czyli zdobienia kwiatamiołtarza, na którym ustawia sięrównież świece, wino i różnepotrawy. Patryka. Dystrykt#7 ZPRKA zorganizował doroczny Beef and Cabbage Dinner. Obiad,składający się z tradycyjnych potraw irlandzkich, czyli peklowanejwołowiny i gotowanej kapusty, przygotowany został przez RayHarrington Catering. W obiedzie wzięło udział 85 osób. Przed obiadem krótką modlitwę odmówił wicekapelan ZPRKA, ks.kanonik Antoni Iwuć. Członkowie zarządu Dystr. #7 prezes WalterSzarowicz i dyrektor Kevin Kucik oraz prezes ZPRKA Joseph A. Drobot,Jr. podziękowali wszystkim za uczestnictwo i wsparcie. Św Józef - patronKościoła powszechnego, rodzin, pracowników, sprawiedliwościspołecznej, ojców, i umierających, pozostaje jednym z najbardziejpopularnych świętych. Nie znana jest dokładnie data ani miejsce chrztu. Zadatę przyjmuje się 14 kwietnia 966 r. Historycy sugerują kilka miejsc, wktórym mógł odbyć się chrzest: Gniezno, Poznań, Ostrów Lednicki w Polsce,Regensburg i Kolonia w Niemczech, lub Rzym we Włoszech. Przed przyjęciem chrześcijaństwa, Polska była krajem pogańskim,zamieszkiwanym przez plemiona słowiańskie, w większości wierzące wpogańskiego boga Światowida. Mieszko I był synem Siemomysła, władcy z dynastii Piastów, należącej dosłowiańskiego plemienia Polan. Polanie zajmowali w X w. większośćWielkopolski, a Gniezno było prawdopodobnie siedzibą rodziny.
