Todorov’s Theory

Todorov stated that every narrative consists of 5 stages:

1. A state of equilibrium (everything as it should be)2. A disruption of that order by an event3. A recognition that the disorder has occurred4. An attempt to repair the damage of the

disruption5. A return or restoration of a new equilibrium

WALL - E1. Wall – e lives on Earth on his own.

3. Eve leaves and so Wall –e follows her.

2. A spaceship arrives on Earth and Eve checks the planet for life

5. Everyone lives on Earth again

4. Eve tells the captain of the ship they can go back to Earth, but a robot tries to stop them. Wall – e, Eve and the captain manage to defeat him

4. Marvin meets Dory and together they look for Nemo

3. Marvin (Nemo’s dad) realises Nemo is missing

5. He falls in love with the princess and they live happily

3. Shrek meets Donkey and together they got to lord Farquad. He says Shrek must rescue a princess if he wants his land back

Over the Hedge

5. RJ tricks the bear and exterminator to have a fight and then lives happily with his new found freinds

4. RJ meets up with other animals and secretly gets the food back, whilst avoiding a pest exterminator

3. The bear tells RJ to get his food back

2. RJ fails to get food, so steals it off a bear

1. RJ lives happily

This proves Todorov’s theory
