Narrative Writing Assignment

Where are they? was the first thought that crossed Juliet

Fernets mind, she hadnt seen the infected today, not even at

sundown, that was the time they usually came out, she had to go

after supplies but she didnt like all the quietness, she would

rather have thousands of the infected on her heels as she ran

towards the safety of her fort, than all the unknown quietness

that there was today.She had heard some shots being fired that night but hadnt

thought much of it up to know, did those miscreats finally find

out how a gun works? She didnt think so, there was also a

small possibility that someone was out there fighting those

things alone, she was only alive up to now because her father

had weapons and food stashed in their panic room, in the

basement.

She had made up her mind, she would check out what wasgoing on outside, she had to help any other survivors, if any,

right? You have to protect yourown. At least thats what her

father used to say before he passed away, she grabbed some

supplies and put them in the jeep, grabbed a handgun, her Swiss

army knife, the flame thrower, and other weapons she thought to

be useful.

She climbed on the jeep and rode away from security,

warmth, and protection. At fifteen, she had to forget all herdreams about prom, graduation, getting married, having babies,

having a real life, she had to learn how to drive alone for gods

sake!

She was reaching Main Avenue when she felt bullets

trying to pierce her car; she rode faster and parked her car in a

discreet location with difficult access. She grabbed her handgun,

and her Swiss army knife, and tried to go back on foot to find

out who or what was firing on her.

Who is there? Show yourself you coward! She screamed

looking towards the place she thought the bullets had come

from. As if on cue, two young boys, at least thirteen years old,

and a young man that looked to be about her age, appeared from

behind a bush, and made their way towards her, they still had

their guns pointed towards her.

She lowered her gun to show she wasnt a threat, but kept

her knife in reaching distance. She cocked her head sideways

and said, Guess Im not the only one left, huh? she chuckled

humorlessly.

As if called by her voice, the infected appeared behind the

two young ones, she took out her handgun and shot them, she

managed to kill one and injure the other two, the older boyshouted to the younger ones, Go find cover! but the younger

boys answered simultaneously No way, Zack! The boy

growled in response but didnt say anything else.

She smirked, but kept on firing shots at those things. When

they were all dead, the boy, Zack, was suddenly at her side,

grabbing her hands and dragging her with him. She probably

could outsmart, and win Zack in a fight, but she had to make

sure that those boys were safe, and that they could managealone, later she would run away back to her jeep and go back to

her fortress.

You are coming with us! The boy said. She blew her jet-

black hairout of her face; smirked, and said, Guess I will,

Zach. Lead the way. He growled in response to his name on her

lips, but said nothing as he led her into the forest, with the boys

in their trail. This ought to be a very interesting trip she

thought to herself, and grinned mischievously, earning anothergrowl and a glare from the boy, that only made her grin harder.
