NAS Common Reference (NCR)

NCR advances SWIM services through an OGC-compliant enterprise-level service providing integrated AIXM and WXXM data.

NCR Capabilities

Enterprise-level NAS SWIM service available to both NAS and non-NAS systems

Integrates cross-domain dynamic NAS status and constraint AIXM/WXXM data across various SWIM data

producers

Provides consistent spatially and

temporally correlated NAS information

relevant to any route of flight or

geometry

Services individual requests or

publishes updates as NAS status and

constraint data change

Rich and flexible filtering capabilities so

that only the desired data is received

Benefits Reduces cost for developing and

maintaining capabilities required by NAS

systems for requesting, providing, and

parsing data to/from sources/clients

Common situational awareness across FAA

systems, ANSPs, and NAS users

Integration of data currently spread across

various systems or not available digitally

Reduces time required for ANSPs to collect data relevant to their decision making,

improving efficiency

FAA users can quickly integrate new information into their strategic plans as new relevant data is

automatically “pushed” to their systems

Improves usage of resources and bandwidth by (1) reducing a need for point-to-point communications

between systems, and (2) sending filtered data (only what is needed, not all data)
