To make sure that I have everything organized for this upcoming year, I am requesting that each club send me their updated board contact information within the next two months if possible. It is basically a word document with each board member’s name, contact information, and position. Faculty and Kiwanis advisor information is also required. If this information could be e-mailed to me, that would be great!

GOVERNOR’S PROJECTOur District Governor, Christina

Nystrom, is pursuing a project

called Kids Against Hunger.

Kids Against Hunger is an

organization that has been

feeding families around the

world since 1999. With the help

of volunteers, bags of rice, soy,

seasoning, and vegetables are put

together, and sent to families

across the world. You have

opportunities to package food in

the Minneapolis area, at Fall

Rally, and at Spring Convention

this year. Our goal this year is to

pack 500,000 meals! If you are

interested in putting together a

club event to help out, please let

me know. Also, your club can

help raise money for the event if

you are unable to actually go and

package the meals.

What Is MEP?MEP stands for Major Emphasis

Programs. Since 1925, Key Club

International has provided more

than 12 million hours of service to

homes, schools and communities

each year. From building bridges, to

collecting over six tons of food,

thousands of dollars raised for

cancer research, helping eliminate

iodine deficiency disorder, Key

Club International plays a vital role

in serving the children of the world.

Every Key Club has the authority to

select its own service projects

because there usually are many

more service needs in a community

than there are service clubs and

agencies to meet them. However, all

Key Clubs are asked to participate

in the Major Emphasis Program

(MEP): “Children: Their Future,

Our Focus.” Our three programs

that we work with are Children’s

Miracle Network, March of

Dimes, and Unicef. Our service

initiative for the year of 2008-2010

was live to learn.

From the desk of our District Advisor, Mrs. Mary Beth Townsend...Dear Key Clubbers, Parents and Advisors:It is my pleasure to be leading a fun filled trip to Memphis, Tennessee this summer and I hope you will consider joining us. We have a packed schedule with stops in St. Louis, Missouri on our way to Memphis and again on our way home. We have secured a coach bus for transportation to Memphis and our district tour. We are still finalizing the details about departure times and sites, but we know will be departing from the Twin Cities and Rochester in the evening on Monday, July 5th. We have planned lots of entertainment, fun and games as we drive through the night to arrive in St. Louis on Tuesday morning. We will make our first stop to do a group service project in the St. Louis area. Then we will head to the Six Flags for the afternoon. That evening, we will head to our hotel. In the early morning of July 6th, we will load the bus for the remainder of our trip to Memphis. We have games and contests planned for the ride and will be stopping off at Graceland for a tour and a district dinner. Then we will check into the convention hotel in time for the Meet and Greet reception and concert by Reliant K. Workshops, officer training, the service fair, and the Opening Session will all be held on

Thursday, July 8th. The evening concludes with a dance. On Friday, July 9th, there will be moreworkshops as well as District Caucusing and the Recognition Session in the evening. The evening concludes with theFarewell Session and another dance. On Sunday, we finish off the rest of the District Tour with some free time to explore the city ofMemphis with groups led by chaperones before we head back to St. Louis for the night. In themorning we will check out of the hotel and take a tour of the St. Louis Arch before taking ariver boat ride down the Mississippi River. Dues, Dues, and more Dues

This year I want to stress the importance of getting in club dues! This is a annual fee that each club member usually pays. It is important to understand that if your club did not pay dues last year, you must pay this year’s and last year’s dues by this winter’s deadline. The deadline for dues is December 1st 2010. I know this is a very early notice, but trust me, it usually takes a while to collect everyone’s dues and register
