NATIONAL DRINKING WATER SECURITY PILOT PROJECTS: KAITHAL BLOCK VISIT (08-04-2013)
An awareness program on Drinking Water through local Media has helped to put more light on
ongoing systems and the challenges. Aggressive coverage of water situation in the area, and the areas
of improvement has been highlighted, so as to bring the depleting water level and related issues in
limelight:
National Drinking Water Security Pilot Projects (NDWSPP), under Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation,
has also been highlighted in local news, so as to generate awareness in the community on various activities
being taken up, such as Water Budget Training, etc.
A common telephone line has been created to address the problems related to Drinking Water. This has
helped to bridge the gap between communities and Administration. Active community participation is
reflected in the news snapshot where the people from distant villages have also come forward with the
Drinking Water problems in their area:
Encouraging School teachers and Staff for their efforts in motivating the school children to play an interactive
and creative skit touching various aspects of Drinking water and Sanitation:
The awareness campaign by “Amar Ujala” named “SAMBHAV” towards the increasing water related
challenges in the Kaithal area has helped to create awareness at various levels in community. A snapshot of

An exhibition of the posters, charts and slogans during the field visit to Kaithal helped in understanding the
impact of media in generating awareness. The local media, school children and the administration have
successfully demonstrated the effective usage of IEC tool in the Pilot Project:
