The National Humanitarian High School “St. st. Cyril and Metodius” is a modern school with glorious history.

The High school entered into the heritage

of the first secondary school in South-west Bulgaria , which was founded in Thessalonica in 1880.

In 1920 the Thessalonica's secondary school was established in Gorna Dzhumaya, today’s Blagoevgrad.

Within the first few years after the

moving, the high school became an intellectual allegory for the local community.

In 1989 within the National humanitarian high school was made music class with intensive music learning . Within that division, the students acquire all types of the music instruments - classic and folklores; also, they acquire classic, folk, jazz, and pop singing, as well as the theory of music. Some of the most talented concert performers from Blagoevgrad are teaching the students in this division. Great number of students from the

music class goes on with their education in some of the biggest European and American universities. Some of the former students have already returned as teachers of the high school. There has been formed classic high-school choir, vocal group for authentic folk, and jazz orchestra called after the name “Junior brass band”.

Repeatedly “Junior brass band” have participated in international festivals in Greece and Turkey.In 2007 the High school and the Art academy ”Musics horizons”, Seres, Greece concluded an agreement (joined a contract) for the cooperation in the knowledge domain of the music culture and the music teaching.

There has been formed classic high-school choir, vocal group for authentic folk, and jazz orchestra called after the name “Junior brass band”. These groups, as well as the large number of the soloists participate uninterruptedly not only in the cultural life in Blagoevgrad but also in Bulgaria.
