BACKGROUND & THEME
One necessary condition for successful globalization is that the globalizing
economy continuously improves its competitive profile. Recent literature suggests
that the main source of sustainable competitive advantage is the development of
firm-specific resources that generate knowledge. Rising pace of globalization
requires managers of global mindset. Since managers are mostly drawn
form B-schools.
B-Schools have to prepare their students for competing in an open economy, with
products and services originating in India as well as abroad. Indian companies can
not remain static. They must innovate constantly, in products and processes in
India and abroad. It is therefore obvious that the B-schools have major
responsibility of nurturing managers with global mindset.
In this pace of globalization, it has become important to understand the drivers to
internationalization for an institution of higher learning and the response of B-
Schools in redesigning its curricula, program portfolio and international
networking. Change in attitude and policies of regulatory bodies, experiences,
different nature of joint collaborations, joint degrees, importing faculty andsetting up campus in abroad are important issues. It is also equally significant to
know the visions of the Indian B-Schools reflecting their global aspirations.
To explore these dimensions, All-India Management Association (AIMA) is
organizing a conference on the theme Globalizing India: Role of Indian B-
Schools at India International Centre, New Delhion 12th & 13th January 2011.
