• Even companies in sectors with longproduct life cycle have short planninghorizons

• Corporate R&D units fulfill tacticaltasks, concerning mostly adaptation and«fine-turning» of foreign technologies

• Innovation and disruptive technologiesare not the key factor of companies’competitiveness

… but long-term Government initiatives do not compensate for companies’ short-term vision
