“For this reason a man shall leave
his father and mother and be joined
to his wife, and the two shall become
one flesh. So they are no longer two
but one flesh. Therefore what God
has joined together, no human being
must separate.” - Mk 10:7-9

Dear friends in Christ,
This week I will be going on my first seminary visit of the fall semester – visiting our 15 Archdi-
ocesan seminarians who are in formation at Saint Meinrad Seminary. I will be away Monday
through Wednesday of this week. Last year, I was not able to do my traditional in-person visits
at Saint Meinrad because of the strict COVID restrictions that were in place to protect the semi-
nary and monastic community. Now that virtually all of the seminary has received a COVID-19
vaccine, we are able to resume much of the normal routine for these visits. I ask you to keep
these men and all of our seminarians in prayer.
Looking farther ahead, Indianapolis will once again be hosting the National Catholic Youth Con-
ference (NCYC) this November 18-20 at the Indiana Convention Center and Lucas Oil Stadium.
We have over 30 of our own high school youth from Nativity who will be attending NCYC. There
is a great need of volunteers to help the conference run smoothly. If you’re interested in volun-
teering, a link will be available in our Communique and on our website in the coming weeks to
sign up – but I encourage you to mark your calendars now!
In Christ’s Peace,
Fr. Eric

ANNUAL SVDP
COLLECTION PREPARATION
Our Nativity SVDP team will plan to have our parish
collection again this fall, currently planning for the
weekend of Oct. 23/24, for our SVCP warehouse and
our brothers and sisters in need. Previously, we have
called this “Blanket Sunday”, but the need is much
greater than this title indicates. Yes, in the fall with cold
weather coming, we do want to collect warm blankets,
coats and clothing, but please consider the following
items also:
Sheets and pillow cases of all sizes, but especially
for twin and full-size mattresses
 Towels and washcloths
 Socks and underwear
Clothing and shoes, especially children sizes
(these can be dropped off in the SVDP bins in the
parking lot at any time)
 Small appliances in working condition
We also need bicycles, helmets, locks and back-
packs for our homeless neighbors
There is also a need for used furniture in good condi-
tion, but for these larger items, including bicycles,
please call the Donation Line at 317/687-1006 to
schedule a custom pick-up for a weekday or Saturday.
Please keep us in mind between now and October as
you re-organize at home or see retailers having sales
on items above.
For any questions about our SVDP confer-
ence here at Nativity, please contact Tom
Price @ 317-752-1263. Thank you for all
you do to support our SVDP efforts.

ed.”, we would like to re-purpose some of the plants
and materials from the garden. The scouts will be care-
fully removing lilies, irises, chicks & hens plants, and
hostas with roots and bulbs. We will also be removing
the landscaping stones (about 200) and bricks from
the area. All of the bulbs, plants, landscaping stones,
and bricks will be available near the prayer garden en-
trance to parishioners and friends after 5:00 PM on
10/09 on a first come, first served basis. They will also
be available the rest of the week. Please call or text

FAMILY FAITH FORMATION
This year we are trying a new approach
to religious education!
Family Formation is a family-based catechetical
program that helps families to grow in the
transforming love of God by
understanding and living the Catholic Faith.
Every first Sunday of the month students in Grades K
-8 meet in classrooms in the school, divided by grade
level, where trained catechists present the lessons.
Parents gather in the parish center to learn about
different aspects of the faith, engage in discussion
with other parents, and receive that month's home
lessons.
Through weekly Home Lessons, Family Formation
helps parents pass on the Catholic Faith to their
children and grow in faith and holiness. This model
enables parents to be “the primary educators in the
Faith.” [General Directory for Catechesis (GDC) 255]

Nativity’s PFO will be hosting Titan Trunk or Treat on
Sunday, October 24
th
from 4:00 to 6:00 pm in the
parking lot between the church and school. All Nativi-
ty students and parishioners and their families are
invited to dress up and come Trick or Treat with us.
Adults, please refrain from dressing up as anything
too scary or gory for our littlest Titans.
We’re looking for some fun families (teachers are
welcome, too) to decorate their trunks, pass out can-
dy, and help out with the event. Trunk hosts are invit-
ed to start decorating and setting up their trunk area
at 2:30. You don’t have to decorate elaborately, but it
certainly adds to the fun! If you are unable to host a
vehicle, but want to help, we are looking for people to
help with set up and clean up after. All volunteers
need to be Safe Parish trained in accordance with
school policy. (Password is Archindy2021) Having
enough volunteers is essential, so please consider
helping out! (See sign up genius below)
In the event of rain, we will hold the event at tables in
the gym and face masks will be required for every-
one. If the pandemic guidelines for Marion County
change, the event may be altered, delayed or can-
celed and we will communicate that to everyone as
soon as we are able.
We use so much candy for this event and greatly ap-
preciate donations, which can be sent into the school
or parish office with a label stating they are for the
PFO Trunk or Treat.
