When starting out my research for my mood board I began with looking at the RNLI website because it was the most obvious place to start as my first idea for my film was based around the RNLI.

Looking at several of the statistics which are presented clearly on their website, it became obvious how much of a public founded organisation is,

When scrolling through the website I found a section on the values the organisation try’s to uphold. These values I feel is not always visible to the public. This gave me the idea to in some way incorporate these values into my film to emphasise the importance.

The section dedicated to information on the rescues carried out daily all over the country and abroad, I found several interesting shots which captured the drama and intensity of the profession, for example the lifeboats at sea.

History of RNLI:

These are some of the different boats the RNLI use on a daily basis and what I liked about the variety was each one told the viewer through denotations the message and history of the boat. For example the top right picture shows the power by the way the stern pushes through the water causing white waves and secondly the backdrop connotes the seriousness of its mission/purpose.

The interest of the rescues from watching several of the videos, lead me to the historical section of the website. Here are a few images which I felt summed up the drama and danger the organisation involves. As well several key dates such as 1940, Dunkirk evacuation, taught me more about how large the role the RNLI plays in society.

It also gave me ideas of several figures in the RNLI history of whom I could create the film about.
