NAWADA DISTRICT PROFILE

Nawada district is one of the thirty-eight districts of the state of Bihar, located South Bihar

Before being formed as a new district, Nawada was a part of the Gaya district

Comprising of four sub-divisions of Buxar, Ara Sadar, Jagdishpur and Piro, was carved out from the former Sahabad district

Nawada is one of the India’s 250 most advance districts out of a total of 640 districts

Nawada is an important unit of Magadh region Place of much historical significance since ancient times down to

medieval and modern period

The district had good sugarcane farming activities though the single sugar mill of the district located in Warisaliganj which is currently not functioning.

There are several places of interest located in the vicinity of Nawada Hisua: The place is of some historical interest as having been the Headquaters

of Namdar Khan and Kamgar Khan, military adventures of the eighteenth century

Sitamarhi: A name given to a curious isolated boulder lying 1.5 miles south of Gaya –Nawada. Tradition relates that it was in this cave that sita lived during her exile and gave birth to Lava

Kakolat: Historical and mythological our eminent Kakolat is situated on a very sweetly beautiful hill named Kakolat hill. It is a waterfall in Govindpur police station, about 21 miles away from Nawada. The fall is about 150 to 160 feet, from the ground level. The scene is panoramic due to all round green forest area which is very pleasant to the eyes
