Comments (space will expand as you type) Good start - introducing the group but tell us how long the presentation will last, too. We are going to talk about opportunities in the Philippines market Good use of notes - looking at the camera and then checking the notes - good style The slide design is cute but use more of the space. Reduce, too, the number of items of the slide e.g., lets charts have their own slide. Animate so the parts appear as you talk. Next is … good Try to reduce the words on the slide Next Joe will talk about xxx Key point -- while when you eat bread you want to drink coffee… but do they? A good example of an ethnocentric mindset. Bring GDP when Peggy starts (it is on the screen before she has started) Try not to change presenters so often Good - sector continues to grow

Clear presentation - but the conclusion is rather weak on specific opportunities. Try to go back and think clearly about the implications of the information you have found. Report: This report has much information. Think how to make sure that you reference correctly (see my video). Some sections have references while others do not. You need to think about the implications of the information that you have found out (see the brief). What does this information mean for your product (what are the implications?). branches: the legislative branch, the executive branch, and the judicial branch.
Executive power is exercised by the government under the leadership of the president. Legislative
power is vested in both the government and the bicameral Congress: the Senate (the upper house) and
the House of Representatives (the lower house). Judicial power is vested in the courts with the Supreme
Court of the Philippines as the highest judicial body.

In 2018 the political stability of Philippines was ranked as 169 of 195 countries from world bank’s analysis .
Besides , comparing to USA , China and Taiwan , the stability of Philippines seems very weak to Taiwan’s
companies or investors. If you want to invest in Philippines , must take consideration of instability political
factors.
Religion
Dominant religion
The major religion in the Philippines is Roman Catholic Christianity, followed by Islam and other types
of Christianity. In the Philippines, all religions are protected by the law, and no one religious belief is given
priority over any other.
Roman Catholicism is the largest religion(80.6%) in the Philippines. This religion was first introduced
through the Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan in the early 1500s.Protestant Christianity is the second-
largest(8.2%) religious group in the Philippines. Evangelical Protestantism was introduced into the
Philippines by American missionaries after the Spanish-American War between the late 18th and early 19th
Centuries.
Living conditions
Diet and nutrition
Pandesal: Pandesal (Bread of Salt) is probably the most in demand bread in the Philippines because it is one
of the most favorite breakfast foods for most Pinoys. We can suggest them to eat Pandsal with coffee.
Because when we eat the bread we will feel thirsty, coffee is the wonderful choice at this time.1
Language
Spoken & written languages
The two official languages of the Philippines are Filipino and English. Filipino is the national language, and
the official status of English is a holdover from its time as a U.S. territory between the years of 1898 and
1946.

Media
Dominant forms of media (e.g., TV, radio, print, internet)
The media networks ABS-CBN Corporation and GMA Network Incorporated dominate the media
market economically. Considering the revenue of the 29 biggest media companies, ABS-CBN Corporation
and GMA Network Incorporated together have a market share of 79.44 percent. Both ABS-CBN
Corporation and GMA Network Incorporated operate across media sectors and offer the most watched, most
listened to and most clicked content.
Exhibit:Top 8 Medias Companies based on Revenue
Use of social media
Socio-Economic Aspect
Facebook is still the go-to social networking platform. Part of its success can be attributed to the efforts
of mobile operators providing ways to access the app via mobile without incurring any charges, albeit with
limited functions.
Age
The biggest group of social media users in the Philippines are in the 18-24 age range university to early
careerage making up 33 percent of active users or around 21 million users
The social media penetration in the Philippines was at 49 percent in 2017, amounting to about 54
million people using a social network in the Philippines as of 2018. Considering that the number of internet
users in the Philippines was at just under 70 million in that year, the social media penetration was projected
to increase to 55 percent of the population by 2023.

Economy
GDP
The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in Philippines was worth 355.50 billion US dollars in 2019,
according to official data from the World Bank and projections from Trading Economics. The GDP value of
Philippines represents 0.29 percent of the world economy.3

Exhibit 1: Philippines GDP1960-2019 Data
GDP in Philippines averaged 86.17 USD Billion from 1960
until 2019, reaching an all time high of 355.50 USD Billion
in 2019 and a record low of 4.40 USD Billion in 1962.4
The economy of the Philippines is the world's 36th
largest economy by nominal GDP according to the 2019
estimate of the International Monetary Fund's statistics, it is
the 13th largest economy in Asia, and the 4th largest economy in the ASEAN after
Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand.5
Exhibit 2: Composition of gross domestic product in the Philippines, 1960--2014
The composition of the gross domestic product is broadly split among the agricultural, industrial
and service sectors. According to 2017 World Bank data, agriculture accounted for 9.7% of GDP, marking
the lowest contribution to GDP in the country's history. To put that into perspective, agriculture accounted
for one-quarter of the country's GDP during the 1980s and almost one-third in the 1970s.Meanwhile, the
industrial and service sectors accounted for 30.5% and 60%, respectively in 2017. Note that the share of
industrial output has steadily fallen as well over time, while the services sector has risen substantially.6
Inflation rate
1. Inflation is always going to be a mix of international and domestic factors. One obvious suspect is the
continuing rise of oil prices worldwide. Countries with no substantial oil production to speak of – like
the Philippines – are forced to import oil. Consequently, they are at the mercy of global oil price
movements determined largely by supply and demand.7
2. Another factor that contributes to runaway inflation is the weakening peso. Because we pay imports in
foreign currencies, a weaker peso necessarily makes imports costlier. As such, oil becomes costlier too,
as well as all the other goods and services in the economy that rely on it.8
3. Most underappreciated – factor behind inflation is people’s expectations of inflation. If people expect
inflation to rise in the coming months, not only will consumers hoard basic goods, but workers will also
lobby for higher wages, and firms will also revise their menus or price lists to safeguard their profits.9
4. Domestic inflation has also been boosted by tighter supply of many agricultural products, notably rice.10

The majority of the people in the Philippines are of Malay descent. There are more than 175
ethnolinguistic groups in the Philippines, its own culture, identity, literature, tradition, music, dances, foods,
beliefs, and history, which are all part of Filipino culture. The latest censuses did not take account of
ethnicity, and the only census that included questions on ethnicity is of the 2000 census.11

2. Population Density13
Owing to this long history of internal migration, the population distribution of the Philippines has
become somewhat more even. Palawan, Mindoro, and much of the Cordillera of northern Luzon still have
relatively few inhabitants, but they also lack extensive lowlands that attract agricultural settlers. Central
Luzon, on the other hand, has intensified its position as the demographic core of the country, a process
closely associated with the explosive growth metro Manila, which now counts a population of almost 12
million.
Exhibit 6: Philippines Population Density
Work condition
1. Salary
Salaries in Philippines range from 6,840PHP (NTD4,055) per month (minimum salary) to 224,000 PHP
(NTD132,791) per month (maximum average salary, actual maximum is higher) and the median salary is
54,600 PHP (NTD32,368) per month.14
2. Work hours
The normal and allowable working hours in the Philippines is 8 hours per day. If employees are required to
work beyond those hours, then it is the company's responsibility to pay them additional fees for the hours
rendered. The law states that employers are only required to give employees one day off a week, but
depending on the job most get weekends off. If someone work a night-shift that person will be paid a bonus
of not less than 10% of the regular wage.15
