The City of Stuart is a waterfront community located on the Treasure Coast. The City of Stuart Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) was created in the mid-1980’s in order to assist in the revitalization of the downtown and surrounding neighborhoods. The CRA has been instrumental in implementing various initiatives and programs to revitalize and improve the quality of life in the downtown area. The CRA is a public agency that was created to undertake the redevelopment of the Downtown Stuart district. The original plan was created by Duany Plater-Zyberk and developed Urban Codes. The original plan created a pedestrian-friendly urban neighborhoods and introduced on street parking, traffic calming street scape improvements.
Today, the expanded CRA encompasses approximately 694 acres both north and south of the Roosevelt Bridge. In September 2017 the CRA Plan was amended. The amended plan intergrates long range goals and also includes the past accomplishments and upcoming CRA projects for the next 5 years.
