The close proximity of shops and easy parking with several car parks to choose from in the town centre take the stress out of shopping.

Additionally several shops boast the „Barrier free shopping in comfort” and „Shopping for all generations” quality seal.

The charming old town is the perfect place for a stroll with its regional timber and slate-roofed houses.

A selection of original outlets have made their home here, and around the St. Lambertus church on the historic market place you can stumble across an array of trendy pubs, outdoor cafés and restaurants, all abutted by historic buildings.

In the pedestrian area you can find owner-managed outlets and numerous street cafés. Visit the twice-weekly market on Jubiläumsplatz on Wednes-days and Saturdays.

As if they had suddenly materialized over night, 35 new firms and outlets have made their home under one roof and over 3 floors of the newly built Königshof-Galerie. This strongly con-tributes to Mettmann´s image as an attractive and competitive shopping town.

Everyday needs are catered for and much more besides. Local supply in the various parts of town is ensured by supermarkets and in the city centre everything is reachable on foot.

Mettmann was the second town in North Rhine Westphalia to introduce cellphone parking in 2010: Send your car registration number by SMS to the speed dial number (on ticket machine). Include the amount of time required ( e.g. “1” for 1 hour etc.). The first free half hour is added automatically.

The parking fee will be deducted from your cell phone bill or prepaid account.

10 mins. before parking ticket expiry a free reminder will by sent via SMS. You have the option to extend your ticket if still underway.
