Nearpod

Nearpod is a free website that teachers and students in a 1:1 laptop/tablet environment use because it allows students to have an interactive learning experience; it encourage class participation (because the teacher can see- in real time- who is responding to the questions/completing certain tasks on the slides); and it allows teachers to collect data in real time (the results can then be emailed, printed, or downloaded). Nearpod is perfect for a 1:1 environment because students cannot advance the slides on their individual device. As the teacher advances the slides, the student views the next slide in the sequence.

How to Use Nearpod

-create an account - or use gmail

My library= The slides you have already downloaded or created Explore= Slides that you are able to download (paid and free) Join= Students will use “join.” They will type the pin number for the lesson in this section Create= Click here to create your own slides Reports= Click here to view student scores/responses to slide shows

Clicking on “Explore” then filter allows you to narrow down your search options. For example, free/paid, grade level, subject matter. To allow students to view on their devices: 1) Click on my library 2)Click on live session 3) Give students the code that is generated 4)If you want to have control of when students view slides and respond, click Live Sessions

5)If you want to allow students to move at his/her own pace click student paced.

Click  CREATE-­‐  to  create  your  own  slide  show.    REMEMBER:  click  SAVE  when  complete  or  it  will  not  appear  in  your  library  and  students  will  not  be  able  to  view  it  

Begin  creating  your  own  slides  by  “adding  content,”    adding  web  content,  or  adding  activity.  

To  generate  reports:  Click  on  the  house,  then  reports.    Reports  can  be  printed,  downloaded,  and  shared.
