The Omaha Steaks Holes of the Week competition stretched out over eight Ne-
braska PGA Pro-Am tournaments with two holes being highlighted each week.

Posting Your Player Development MSRs
The off-season for the Nebraska Section is approaching fast and it is time for all of us to take a breather and catch up on many important items while also preparing for next year. One important thing to do this fall is make sure you receive your MSR credits earned this golf season. It is crucial to stay on top of your Member Service Requirements each season to ensure you maintain PGA Membership. To check your current status, you may click here.
In June 2011, The PGA of America announced it would now award MSR credits for Player Development. The credits for Golf 2.0/Player Development must be earned via the reporting of actual creation, activation and engagement of golfers into programming that supports Golf 2.0 initiatives and related program administration. These player development credits count toward the “Required” category just like meetings and education have in the past.
The key is you must report your programs to receive credit. There are a number of ways to report your player development programs and we will highlight them below.
1. Did you post your programs to ACTIVE? Programs posted on PGA of America websites through ACTIVE Works are actually ready for MSR posting. You simply have to go in and select which PGA Professionals at your facility receive the credits. Visit the MSR Center on PlayGolfAmerica.com and select your program and you will be prompted through a series of screens to award MSRs.
2. MSRs for Player Development Programs not Posted on PGA of America Websites Visit the MSR Center on PlayGolfAmerica.com

I just watched the Red Sox defeat the Cardinals for the World Series title. Baseball is now done for the
year and now Cubs fans can start dreaming again! No explanation necessary! To my friends who are Red
Sox diehards- congratulations! I believe this is the first time in 95 years they clinched the World Series
at Fenway Park.
Do you remember the awful tragedy in April at the Boston Marathon? Red Sox Manager, John Farrell,
spoke about this after the game and here is a quote taken from an article.
"In a time of need, in response to a tragedy, I go back to our players understanding their place in this
city," Farrell said after Wednesday's 6 -1 victory at Fenway Park clinched a 4-2 World Series triumph
over the St. Louis Cardinals.
"For lack of a better way to describe it, they get it. They get that there's, I think, a civil responsibility
that we have wearing this uniform, particularly here in Boston."
Farrell said the spirit began to grow when players reached out to individuals who had suffered in the
tragedy and made hospital visits to bring cheer and comfort to the hundreds of wounded.
"I think our fans, they got to a point where they appreciated the way we played the game, how they
cared for one another," the manager said. "And in return they gave these guys an incredible amount of
energy to thrive on in this ballpark.
"I'm sure that everybody in our uniform ... they'll look back on the events that took place and the way
things unfolded as a special year. There's no way we can say it any other way."
I honestly think you as a PGA Professional show your civil (civic) responsibility in many ways. Think
of how many charitable outings you organize and do for great causes. Think of how many times you are
asked to donate your time, your resources for so many who ask you. John Farrell’s quotes are very
insightful and meaningful in my opinion. Are there any parallels you can take away from this and build
upon to galvanize support for your “mission”? Does your staff, board, ownership, etc., know and
understand what your mission is? Does it benefit the community or section?? Does your mission benefit
a greater cause? Whatever your mission is, do it well!
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I want to thank you for all you do for this great game! You may not
receive the adulation that David Ortiz receives for being a World Champion baseball player. BUT, day
in and day out, the “uniform”, (PGA badge) you wear is hopefully worn proudly. As a fellow PGA
Member, I just want to say “THANK YOU” for all you do. Blessings!

Lincoln, NE – Ryan Ver-
meer of Oak Hills Coun-

exceptional shots from
around the green to
cruise to the professional
title of the Club Car/T.O.
Haas Pro-Am at Hillcrest
Country Club. Vermeer
chipped in three times
and made six birdies and
one eagle to post a seven-under-par 65. Vermeer got
off to a hot start with birdies on the par five first hole
and par five fourth hole. Vermeer really got things
going with a birdie on the par four #10 and followed
that up with an eagle on the par five #11. Vermeer
cashed in birdies on holes #13 and #18 to cap off an-
other impressive day.
The recently crowned player of the year, Shane
Zywiec, PGA of Highlands Golf Course posted a
two-under-par 70 to finish in second place. Zywiec
posted a front nine three-under-par 33 and finished
with a one-over-par 37 on the back nine. The team
race was close with the team of Alex Carper of Hid-
den Valley Golf Club and his amateur team of Mi-
chael Lucchino, Jason Pickerel and Steve Carper
posting 15-under-par capturing the team title. Finish-
ing one stroke back at 14-under-par was Jon Casey,
PGA of Wildwood Golf Course, Doc Levy, Marv
Penning and Dustin Kreifels.
The highlight of the day came on the par three #16 as
Scott Bomgaars made a hole-in-one. Not only is this
a shot Bomgaars will remember the rest of his life he
also won a box of filet mignons from Omaha Steaks
for this historic moment. Click here to see how you
