Nebraska—where bio-science business...
...has a major Advantage!
Boys Town National Research Hospital—OmahaBoys Town National Research Hospital has assembled scientific leaders in research who are making meaningful contributions in the areas of genetics, hearing, language, vision and speech disorders. These areas of focused research are then translated into new technologies, new medical diagnoses, distance learning programs, and the exploration of new medical technology applications.

Nebraska Center for Virology—LincolnThe University of Nebraska’s new Nebraska Center for Virology will add an $8 million, 26,000 square-feet laboratory wing on UNL’s East Campus. The addition will include as many as seven research labs, and support facilities along with office and seminar space.
“Our goal is to be an international leader in virology research that provides basic knowledge about viruses and strategies to treat and prevent major viral infectious diseases,” said Charles Wood, the center’s director. “It will also allow UNL to pursue new research opportunities, recruit new faculty and students and provide more room for ongoing projects.”

Creighton University—OmahaResearch at Creighton University’s School of Medicine includes bacterial resistance, cancer, hearing loss, and the conditions that affect bone health and loss. Researchers at Creighton University’s School of Medicine focus on the development of new therapies that contribute to the health and well-being of patients, and are essential to the mechanisms for treatment and disease prevention. The Intellectual Resources Management Office at Creighton University is an efficient interface between business contacts and Creighton’s technologies and services.

University of Nebraska Medical Center—Omaha The University of Nebraska Medical Center and Eppley Cancer Center are leaders in medical research. The centers of excellence are: cancer, transplantation biology, cardiovascular disease, genetics, neuroscience, advanced biomedical technology, biosecurity and biopreparedness, and nanomedicine. Researchers are housed in the twin towers of the Durham Research Center, two 10-level facilities, complete with more than 20 research laboratories. UNeMed, the commercialization subsidiary of UNMC, handles traditional intellectual property out-licensing, and assisted in the establishment of spin-off technology companies.

Scott Technology Center—Omaha Omaha’s Scott Technology Center represents an environment optimized for the development and growth of new technology driven businesses. Laboratories and programs are custom designed for incubators, to assist entrepreneurs, and to address the environmental needs of new high technology businesses.
http://www.scott-technology.com
University of Nebraska Technology Park—LincolnThe University of Nebraska Technology Park offers a 150-acre campus environment for technology-based businesses. The Park is home to 18 firms that employ more than 2,100 people. The Park’s incubator, the Technology Development Center (TDC), focuses on early stage and growth firms, as well as new ventures undertaken by established companies. A representative sample of technologies developed by TDC firms include new animal vaccines, animal genomics services, animal diagnostics, new platform technologies for DNA vaccine manufacture, gene vector replication and development of nanomaterials for delivery of drugs. Firms locating in the TDC are provided access to BL II wet labs, business development assistance and a variety of University resources.

University of Nebraska Bio-Processing Laboratory—Lincoln The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Biological Process Development Facility (BPDF) is a multidisciplinary “turn-key” facility focused on biopharmaceutical process research, development, and the manufacture of candidate vaccines and biotherapeutics derived from recombinant expression systems.
The facility provides process research and development capabilities to transition biopharmaceuticals from discovery to Phase I/II clinical trial, featuring pilot scale facilities, a newly built cGMP suite, process research and development capabilities, and a staff of 29 focused on the development of vaccines and therapeutic agents from bacterial and yeast expression systems.

George W. Beadle Center—Lincoln The George W. Beadle Center for Genetics and Biomaterials Research is a $32 million, 140,000 square-feet facility located on the University of Nebraska—Lincoln’s main campus. The center also houses the UNL Center for Biotechnology, Redox Biology Center, and UNL Plant Science Institute. Cooperative UNL/UNMC research programs are focused on the development of new technologies and technology spin-off companies.
