The two companies have launched a new website – www. rainwaterinnovation.com – which provides information on single-source solutions for the water management cycle, from system design and manufacturing to installation supervision and long-term support, including Watertronics’ custom SkyHarvester system which is distributed by Pentair. “Water scarcity is a fact we all face in the 21st century, and as the building market regains its footing over the next several years, we feel it is our corporate responsibility to sponsor and support building initiatives that are rooted foundationally in sustainable design. Watertronics is a division of Lindsay Corp, a leader in irrigation and road infrastructure. www.pentair.com www.watertronics.com www.rainwaterinnovation.com Amiad Water Systems Ltd has signed a US$1.67 million contract to provide an Arkal Super Galaxy automatic disc filtration system for the protection of ultrafiltration (UF) membranes at the Mekorot Group’s Ashdod desalination plant in Israel. The Amiad solution will include its polymer-based Arkal Super Galaxy automatic self-cleaning disc filters. The system will have a filtration degree of 100 micron and will be required to withstand a flow rate of 40 000 cubic metres per hour. Amiad will begin supplying the units from October 2012, with installation scheduled for March 2013. The Ashdod desalination plant, which is due to start operating early next year, will produce 100 million cubic metres of water per year, accounting for approximately 15% of Israel’s domestic water consumption. This latest Amiad filtration contract was awarded by IVM Minrav Sadyt, a consortium including Israeli infrastructure company Minrav Holdings Ltd and Spanish construction firm Sadyt. www.amiad.com PUB, Singapore’s national water agency, is to upgrade its Changi Water Reclamation Plant with GE advanced membrane bioreactor (MBR) wastewater treatment technology. Under a contract with engineering, procurement and construction company UES Holdings Pte Ltd (UESH), GE will supply the Changi Water Reclamation Plant with MBR technology and equipment featuring ZeeWeed 500 reinforced, hollow-fibre membranes. GE will also provide cassettes, engineering design and commissioning support for the project. The Changi Water Reclamation Plant was built in 2007 to treat 800 MLD or 800 000 m 3 /d. The expanded plant will be able to handle a maximum wastewater flow of about 860 MLD or 860 000 m 3 /d. GE will ship the equipment to Singapore in the second and third quarters of 2013. www.ge.com Nederman will supply three Aisin Takaoka foundries in China and Thailand with a range of extraction and filtration solutions in a repeat order worth more than SEK17 million. The Nederman solutions include extraction and filtration at the induction furnace, shake out, shot blasting and fettling. Nederman will also deliver solutions for efficient sand plant management and active carbon filters to reduce odours. The filter equipment will be produced at Nederman’s plant in Suzhou, China, and the installation will be project managed from Nederman’s technical departments in Bangkok and Suzhou.
