Students from churches affiliated with the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina are eligible for special consideration for scholarship funding made possible by North Carolina Baptists to attend institutions (Campbell University, Chowan College, Gardner-Webb University, Mars Hill College and Wingate University) affiliated with the Council on Christian Higher Education. Last year 550 students benefited from this special financial aid program.

Presbyterian College offers several academic and need-based scholarship opportunities.

Academic Scholarships at Catawba College range from $2,000 to full tuition and are based primarily on academic performance. All students are automatically considered for academic scholarships once you granted admission to the college and complete the Early Scholarship and Financial Aid Estimator Form. The John Montgomery Belk Scholarship at Davidson College – Amt.: full tuition room and board (54,000 per year). Students also receive up to 3,000 dollars to pursue international studies during the summer. Criteria: honors student who has demonstrated intellectual and personal success with significant leadership experience. North Henderson can select one student to apply for this scholarship. Interested students please notify your school counselor before November 1st.

The Bryan Scholarship at Davidson College – The HHS Scholarship Committee may nominate up to three seniors for this opportunity. This is a $30,000 annual scholarship for student athletes at Davidson (they give two awards to the incoming freshman class one male and one female). Interested students please see your counselor.

The Levine Scholars Program at University of North Carolina at Charlotte is a new scholarship program that takes the brightest, most capable students and gives them the tools, resources and environment they need to connect, transform and make a difference in the world. The four-year scholarship includes full tuition, room and board, a grant to implement a service project of the Scholar’s own design, and four summers of experiences that will develop leadership skills, social awareness, and an international perspective. UNC Greensboro offers the UNCG Guarantee to assist in-state students graduate from UNCG in four years with little or no debt as well as provides a support program to encourage academic and personal success. The university will make every attempt to meet the rest of the recipients' financial need through a combination of federal, state, university, and private grants and scholarships. The University of North Carolina at Greensboro offers more than forty renewable Merit Awards ranging from $2,500-$12,000 per year. Successful candidates usually present a minimum SAT score of 1200 (ACT 27) and a 3.5 GPA.

The College of Natural Resources at North Carolina State University houses three academic departments, Forestry and Environmental Resources, Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management and Wood and Paper Science. NC State University offers the Pack Promise program. This reaffirms the university's mission and proven historical record of access, affordability and student success. There is no separate application for most academic scholarships at UNCCH. Selection is based on the information provided in the application for admission.

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has announced plans to expand the Carolina Covenant, a groundbreaking program that enables low-income students from around the nation to attend UNCCH debt-free. Admitted students with a family income at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level can attend Carolina-without borrowing a penny- if they work 10-12 hours a week in a federal work-study job. There is no separate application for the Covenant; instead all admitted students who apply for aid by the March 1 financial aid deadline are automatically considered. The North Carolina Association of Educators (NCAE) offers the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship. Selection criteria include character, community involvement, and scholastic achievement. Individuals meeting these qualifications may access the application at http://www.NCAE.org.

Ron Brown Scholar Program is a national program that awards scholarships to academically talented, highly motivated African American high school seniors who intend to pursue an undergraduate degree full-time. Each year a minimum of 10 students across the US become Ron Brown Scholars and receive $10,000 dollars annually for use at the college of their choice. The Bonner Scholar Program seeks to transform the lives of students at twenty-seven colleges and universities as well as their campuses, local communities, and nation by providing access to education and opportunities to serve. To achieve this mission, the Bonner Foundation provides four-year community service scholarships to approximately 1,500 students (who are referred to as Bonner Scholars) annually. The scholarship serves those individuals who have high financial need and a commitment to service. It is designed to heighten the overall education a Scholar receives by asking students to engage in ongoing service work and helping them develop the tools and the knowledge necessary to make that work meaningful and lasting. The Tall Club International is offering at least one $1,000 scholarship. T.C.I. is a social organization for men and women of tall stature and consists of more than 60 clubs across the United States. Wendy’s High School Heisman Scholarship: This award honors high school students who excel in academics, athletics and student leadership. Varsity Tutors Scholarship Contest Description: Varsity Tutors holds a monthly $1,000 college scholarship contest where students must write an essay in response to a monthly prompt. Visitors to the Varsity Tutors scholarship webpage are able to vote via social media for submitted entries. The top five entries with the most votes are reviewed by Varsity Tutors at the end of the month and one winner is subsequently chosen to receive the $1,000 college scholarship. GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program rewards college-bound students who demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship with financial assistance to pursue higher education. Each year, the Program selects numerous recipients to receive a $10,000 scholarship renewable for up to an additional three years – up to $40,000 total per recipient. Awards are for undergraduate and graduate study, and may be used for education-related expenses, including tuition, fees, books, supplies, room, and board. The Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) National Scholarship Program: is proud to be able to help students who dream of going to college, but may not have the finances necessary to realize this dream. The RMHC Scholarship Program is comprised of four individual Scholarship programs including: RMHC/ASIA; RMHC/African American Future Achievers; RMHC/Hispanic American; and RMHC Scholars. Jagannathan Scholarship. Available to freshmen who will attend a public NC university. The Hispanic College Fund awards scholarships to talented Hispanic students who wish to pursue undergraduate degrees. Awards range from $500 to $5,000 and are based on academic excellence, leadership qualities, and financial need. The National Hispanic Explorers Scholarship Program is a program designed to help create the next generation of Hispanic Explorers. Funded by a grant from NASA, the National Hispanic Explorers Program will provide Hispanic students merit and need-based scholarships that will help them achieve their goal of an undergraduate degree in the fields of science and engineering. The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE) is pleased to announce its second annual”Freedom in Academia” student essay contest. Aspiring culinarians with outstanding academic and leadership skills can apply for the CIA's "Cream of the Crop" Scholarship. Ten students will receive scholarships of up to $20,000 for the CIA's degree programs. This scholarship is $5,000 per year, and is renewable annually with a GPA of 3.2. To be eligible for the Cream of the Crop Scholarship, you must have a high school or college grade point average of 3.5 or higher. The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation is looking for students who qualify for their scholarship program.
