IntroductIon:

national Eligibility cum Entrance Test commonly referred as NEET is a national level medical undergraduate entrance exam conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education

(CBSE) for admission to government colleges, private and deemed institutions across the country. For the academic year 2016-17, states have been allowed to conduct their own test in case they do not wish to conduct admission on the basis of NEET scores. However, from the admission year 2017 only NEET will be accepted for admission to MBBS and BDS programmes in all government medical and dental colleges across the country.

According to the NEET 2016 examination schedule, NEET 1 was conducted on May 1 for those candidates who had filled the AIPMT application form (AIPMT 2016 has been renamed as NEET Phase 1). The next phase of the exam, NEET 2016 Phase 2, is scheduled to be conducted on July 24. NEET 2016 Phase 2 can be taken up by all candidates irrespective of their appearance in NEET 2016 Phase1/AIPMT 2016 which was held on May 1, 2016. However, candidates who will take NEET 2016 Phase 2 will have to give up their candidature for NEET 2016 Phase 1/AIPMT 2016. This means examinees, who reappear for NEET 2, will lose their score of NEET phase 1.

NEET 2016 phase 2 will be conducted in pen & paper mode at around 1,000 exam centres across India. In this ebook, we bring you the complete details of NEET 2016 such as eligibility, application form, seats, admit card, results and dates.

NEET 2016 is considered to be the most competitive undergraduate medical entrance exam in India, which is taken by around 6 lakh candidates for pursuing their dream of studying MBBS or BDS.

The entrance exam is governed by the rules and regulations specified by the CBSE, Medical Council of India, Dental Council of India and the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India.

According to an Ordinance passed by the Govern-ment of India, in 2016, NEET will be the basis for admission to approximately 40,000 MBBS and BDS seats under 15 per cent quota seats in government colleges, management quota seats in private and deemed institutions of India and states who have opted to accept NEET.

Careers360: How did you prepare for AIPMT 2015? What were the books that you studied from?Khushi: I followed my coaching experts’ advice and guid-ance. I used to revise each and every topic being taught to me in school as well as in my coaching center. I have found NCERT books to be very simple and helpful, especially in Biology and Physics. I also had my time table prepared and studied accordingly. It is very important to develop a habit of self and sincere study which helps in building the basics as well as strengthen the self-satisfaction.

Careers360: How much time you devoted to your studies during AIPMT 2015 Preparation?Khushi: I did not study for 4 to 5 hours at a stretch. I have always focused on completing my syllabus, which I had decided for myself when I started preparing for the exam. I never tried to cram any formula or concept. Rather, I have always tried to understand the concept. I never decided for how many hours I had to study, but I used to decide what topics I had prepare and revise.

When AIPMT got cancelled, I treated it as another chance of preparing well. After appearing in the exam, I had got to know my weak areas. So during the AIPMT 2015 Retest preparation days, I had worked really hard to convert my weak areas into my strengths.

Careers360: What was the difficulty level of the ques-tions in AIPMT, and strategy during the exam?Khushi: AIPMT is one of the most difficult exams of Medicine. However, I found the exam to be quite easy and simple. Any student who had prepared thoroughly for the exam would have found it to be easy. I did not opt for any strategy in solving the question paper. I kept on solving the questions serial wise. As I solved questions in each section, I maintained my focus and calm. If you would lose your calm

during your performance, you would end up messing your exam.

Careers360: What about your family? How did they support you?Khushi: My parents are Dentists. They inspired me a lot and stood beside me during my preparation days. There was no study pressure from my parent’s side. I feel lucky that my parents have always supported me and helped me in chasing my dream of becoming a doctor.

Careers360: Were you involved in any recreational activity during the exam preparation?Khushi: Yes, I was very much active in recreational activi-ties. Whenever I used to get tired of studies, I used to listen to soft songs on my laptop which have always helped in relax-ing my mind. I also used to go on evening walks to get some fresh air. This way I used to break my monotony of studies and reduce exam tension. These recreational activities have helped me in studying with more fresh and focused mind.

Careers360: What message would you like to give AIPMT aspirants?Khushi: What made me a topper are hard work, focus and passion towards my goal of becoming a doctor. I would give the same suggestions to other aspirants that work hard to follow your dream. Always believe in yourself and treat yourself as your biggest competitor. And remember, “Those who dream the most; do the most”.
