KINGSLEY UDO

Outcomes

• Through the olympics, the community was able to mobilize themselves

• 35 Young people from the community who are volunteering through the

Page 34: Neighbourhood Olympics

Through the Olympics, children in the neighbourhood and school spaces in

Bungudu, Zamfara State are not only expressing themselves, they have mobilised

their community for positive change.

ARE YOU SURPRISED? These are children who were once OUT OF SCHOOL…

Page 35: Neighbourhood Olympics

THIS WAS HOW IT ALL BEGAN…

Page 36: Neighbourhood Olympics

10.5 million CHILDREN are out

of school

(UNICEF 2015)

Page 37: Neighbourhood Olympics

That is

Page 38: Neighbourhood Olympics

Children have a right to EDUCATION

Page 39: Neighbourhood Olympics

But the reality is that everyday, a child leaves a classroom

Page 40: Neighbourhood Olympics

Soon they become excluded!

Page 41: Neighbourhood Olympics

In most cases ABUSED!

Page 42: Neighbourhood Olympics

THAT'S WHY WE HAVE JOINED THE GLOBAL EFFORT TO SEND CHILDREN

BACK2SCHOOL THROUGH THE COMMUNITY CITIZEN SERVICE PROGRAMME

AND INCLUSIVE NEIGHBOURHOOD SPACES FOR CHILDREN

Page 43: Neighbourhood Olympics

The back to school project aims to take back at least

one child out of the 10.5 million children who are out

of school in Nigeria.
