1ST NEIGHBOURHOOD
CHILDREN OLYMPICSIN AFRICA
KINGSLEY UDO
Children can learn to play as a team, and they learn you don’t always win.
That’s something this day and age, that we don’t teach our children very
well…Gaming is a good way to teach that.

Outcomes
• Through the olympics, the community was able to mobilize themselves
• 35 Young people from the community who are volunteering through the
community citizen service programme inspired others to volunteer
• After meeting between VSO and UNICEF Education Secretary
Through the Olympics, children in the neighbourhood and school spaces in
Bungudu, Zamfara State are not only expressing themselves, they have mobilised
their community for positive change.
ARE YOU SURPRISED? These are children who were once OUT OF SCHOOL…
THIS WAS HOW IT ALL BEGAN…
10.5 million CHILDREN are out
of school
(UNICEF 2015)
That is
Children have a right to EDUCATION
But the reality is that everyday, a child leaves a classroom
Soon they become excluded!
In most cases ABUSED!
THAT'S WHY WE HAVE JOINED THE GLOBAL EFFORT TO SEND CHILDREN
BACK2SCHOOL THROUGH THE COMMUNITY CITIZEN SERVICE PROGRAMME
AND INCLUSIVE NEIGHBOURHOOD SPACES FOR CHILDREN
The back to school project aims to take back at least
one child out of the 10.5 million children who are out
of school in Nigeria.
