Designs unveiled for

Stage 1

On Friday 16 November, Member for Penrith,

Stuart Ayres and Member for Mulgoa Tanya

Davies visited the Nepean campus to unveil the

schematic designs for the new 14-storey clinical

tower, which is part of the $576 million Stage 1

Nepean Redevelopment.

A 3D fly-over of the building and several artist’s

impressions of the interiors showcase the

outcomes of an extensive planning and

consultation process with hospital staff and the

community.

The Stage 1 hospital tower will include a new

and expanded Emergency Department, more

than 12 new Operating Theatres, 18 Birthing

Suites, a new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, more

than 200 overnight beds and a new roof top helipad.

Construction is expected to start in early-2019

following a final detailed design planning and

consultation process. This will determine where all

the furniture, fittings and equipment will be located in

each clinical area and public space of the tower.

Currently, the project team is also conducting a

roadshow to capture community input into the look

and feel of the public spaces of the new tower. This

will feed into the final detailed design phase. Further

details about this roadshow are included on page 4

of this newsletter.

Drivers will still be able to retrieve their cars from this car park at any time.

In mid-January 2019, the Somerset Street car park will be permanently closed to allow for construction to commence on the Stage 1 tower.

Additional, temporary staff parking will be provided close to the hospital campus to minimise any disruption to patients and visitors.

All disabled car spaces within the Somerset car park, will be relocated to convenient areas on the hospital campus to ensure spaces are maintained. Details on the new accessible parking locations will be provided in the coming weeks.

New parking changes at

Nepean Redevelopment

There will be changes to parking over the Christmas and New Year period to prepare for construction of the Stage 1 hospital tower in early 2019.

From Monday 10 December 2018, we will trial valet parking at the Derby Street multi-storey car park.

This will require drivers to leave their keys with parking attendants when the car park is close to capacity, allowing parking attendants to park the cars in a more efficient way and increase capacity within the multi-storey car park.

Thank you for your support and patience as we progress this important project.

For further information or questions regarding the car parking changes please email:

Did you know?

The new Barber

Avenue multi-storey car

park will open in mid-

2019, providing more

than 600 car spaces. It

will also have an

interim roof-top helipad

for emergency

helicopter landings.

Nepean Cancer Care Centre

Clinic rooms set to open in the

New Year

The countdown is on for the completion of the new clinic

rooms at the Nepean Cancer Care Centre. Large trucks

recently delivered the modular sections of the unit

(pictured on the right), and staff are preparing to open the

doors to the new rooms in mid-January following a short

commissioning period.

Once the new clinic rooms are open, work can start on the

expansion of the chemotherapy treatment spaces in

parallel with the construction of the third radiation therapy

bunker.

All works are scheduled to be complete in mid-2019,

which is a great outcome for patients and staff.
