Nestle Toll House Cookies Slide 1 Story will be narrated

• Back in 1930, Mr. And Mrs. Wakefield purchased a Toll House located halfway between Boston and New Bedford, Massachusetts. Built in 1709;

the house had long been a haven for weary travelers in search of food, drink and change of horses.

In keeping with the Toll House tradition, Mrs. Wakefield baked for guests at her Toll House Inn. As she improved upon old recipes, Mrs. Wakefields incredible desserts began attracting people from all over New England.

While experimenting with the Butter Drop Do, a favorite Colonial cookie, Mrs. Wakefield cut a bar of Nestlé® into tiny bits and added them to her

cookie dough, expecting them to melt. Instead, the chocolate held its shape softening into a delicately creamy texture.This delicious discovery was

dubbed the Toll House® Cookie.Soon, everyone wanted to know how to make this widespread favorite. With Mrs. Wakefield's permission, we put the

recipe right on the wrapper of the Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar.

As the popularity of the Toll House® Cookie continued to grow, Nestlé® looked for ways to make it easier for people to bake. First they produced a

special, scored chocolate bar that could easily be divided into small sections. Then, Nestlé® began offering tiny pieces of chocolate in

convenient, ready-to-use packages, and that's how the first Real Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels were introduced.

Since they were first used in the Toll House® Cookie, Nestlé® Semi-Sweet Morsels have satisfied the chocolate cravings of millions. Today, they are

used to make hundreds of delectable chocolate desserts across the globe.

• This PPT could be used to help students write and design either their own how to videos or writing projects. By using something realistic and relevant to them they can better understand the how to structure and where to find ideas about things they are experts on. This is specifically targeting 1st and 2nd graders.
