School NewsSick Children attending SchoolIf your child is sick before school it would be appreciated if they could be cared for in their home enviroment. Please do not send them to school, so we can minimise illnesses.

Congratulations to Ruby West who last week was acknowledged at the NSW Art Gallery for her selection in Operation Art’s Touring 50 from 2017.

SCR NewsMega Kindness WeekTo raise awareness of the importance of being kind to others, we are celebrating Mega Kindness Week from Monday 9 April – Friday 13 April. The SRC will be performing Acts of Kindness all week to show everyone just how fun and easy kindness truly is.

Some of the acts of kindness we will be performing include:

• standing at the school gates before school holding up positive signs

• handing out water bottles to teachers

• making a thank you card for the canteen helpers, office staff and cleaners

• placing positive signs on classroom doors

• leaving a gift on the teachers‘ desks

• making a kindness bulletin board with positive notes.

Kindness starts with one—who’s your one? We invite all students and parents to join us by doing one kind thing for someone every single day. Please see our suggested weekly calendar below for ideas.

With Easter just around the corner, Year 1 has been busy working with their Year 6 buddies to create their own masterpieces to wear in the upcoming Easter Hat Parade. The classrooms have been filled with feathers, eggs, stickers and glitter galore, in preparation for this exciting event.

In Kindergarten we have enjoyed learning all about our different family traditions and the celebrations that are important to us and our families.

We have been busy getting ready for Easter, a celebration that a lot of us will share and enjoy with our families this weekend. We have made a ‘Funky Bunny’ artwork, and for our other Bunny masterpiece, we painted a pastel background using horizontal lines.

We have also all become qualified milliners this week, just in time for our Kindy Easter Hat Parade. Hoppy Easter every bunny!

Mrs K. Fetcher - 6F Class Teacher

On Wednesday 21 March 2018, the students at Neutral Bay celebrated Harmony Day. Harmony Day is a national celebration in Australia, where we have the opportunity to learn and think about multiculturalism. Neutral Bay students were able to wear a touch of orange, or wear items of traditional cultural dress. In 4S we enjoyed learning about and celebrating cultural diversity in Australia. Some 4S students brought in special items to share with the class, and we also spent some time on the day to each decorate a dove to represent our understanding of Harmony Day. They come together to form a whole class artwork in recognition of this important day.

This term, Year 6 students have been busy reading and writing narratives with a ‘mystery’ theme. 6F created some spooky, spine-tingling house silhouettes to go with the wonderfully creative ‘Haunted House’ stories we wrote. Great job 6F!

Band News

Band Camp datesThe 2018 NBPS Band Camp will be held on the weekend of Friday 18 – Sunday 20 May 2018 at Sydney Academy of Sport and Recreation, Wakehurst Parkway, Narrabeen.

Camp for Concert and Senior Bands will be from after school on Friday 18 May to 3pm Sunday 20 May. Camp for Junior Band will be from 7.45am on Saturday 19 May to 3pm Sunday 29 May.

The Band Camp is an essential part of this year’s music program for Junior, Senior and Concert Bands. Not only does it provide a flying start for all bands for the year, it provides concentrated tutoring in small groups and full rehearsals, establishes a sense of teamwork and belonging amongst all band members, and is a lot of fun.

Please plan to keep this weekend free. If you have any questions, please contact your Band Coordinators in the first instance.

We are looking forward to a great Band Camp!
