Sustainable Buildingand Construction programme
When? Status Proposed Working Areas
At UN Habitat Governing Council, in Nairobi at end of April 2015
A public on‐line consultation on the draft concept note of the Sustainable Buildings and Construction (SBC) Programme has been completed.
A lead and three co‐leads, including one government and one UN Agency, together with and 18‐20 member MAC will shortly be confirmed.
• Establish and promote enablingframeworks to implement SBC policies
• Reduce climate impact of buildingsector
• Promote Resource Efficiency in BuildingSupply Chain
• Support and Promote SustainableSocial Housing
• Knowledge sharing, outreach andawareness raising (cross‐cutting)
Proposed vision of the SBC programme“All stakeholders involved in the planning, commissioning, design, construction and deconstruction, management and operation of buildings have a common understanding of sustainable buildings and the knowledge, resources and incentives required to create, maintain and use them; structures that are healthy to live and work in, that sustainably utilise energy, water, land and other key resources, respecting environmental limits, and ultimately have a minimally adverse impact on the natural world.”

Sustainable Food Systems programme
When? Status Proposed Working Areas
Launch is expected second or third quarter of 2015
On‐line consultation July 2014: gathered 212 responses (29% from researchers, 25% from NGOs, 18% from governmental institutions, 8 % from the private sector, 6% from IGOs, 12% other)
Public consultation (four weeks) on programme concept waslaunched on 16th March 2015, on the 10YFP Secretariat and FAO Food Security Network websites.

• Facilitating the use and enhanceopportunities for market‐based and/orvoluntary approaches throughout supplychain towards sustainable food systems
Proposed vision : “all food systems are sustainable, delivering food security and nutrition for all in such a way that the economic, social and environmental bases to generate food security and nutrition for future generations are not compromised”
To be Launched
Creating “collective impact” through the 10YFP programmes
Five Conditions for Collective Impact – Kania and Kramer 2011
COMMON AGENDA • A shared vision for a common understanding of the problem
• A joint approach to solving it through agreed upon actions
SHARED MEASUREMENT • Collecting data and measuring results consistently, thus aligning efforts
• Holding each other accountable
MUTUALLY REINFORCING ACTIVITIES
• Activities are differentiated while still being coordinated through a mutually reinforcing plan of action.
CONTINUOUSCOMMUNICATION
• Consistent and open communication across the many actors to build trust
• Assure mutual objectives, and create common motivation.
BACKBONE SUPPORT • Leads and co leads of programmes and their MACs, supported by the Secretariat, provide strategic direction, facilitate dialogue, manage data collection and analysis
• Secretariat, Leads and Co‐Leads and MACs mobilize funds together, while Secretariat and Board report to ECOSOC, which in turn supports 10YFP
Leads, co‐leads and MultistakeholderAdvisory Committees of the Programmes
• Serving as parliaments, work plan, project generator and fund mobilization for the programmes, together with other programme partners
• Multistakeholder composition, participatory governance and the five factors above are the key to making programmes work.
• Programmes will be built from the bottom up, responding to the expressed needs of national and stakeholder focal points
10YFP responds to intergovernmental mandate to accelerate shift to SCP patterns
Creates greater collective impact and scaling up for shift to SCP, with focused implementation projects on the ground
Responds in a coherent and cost effectivemanner to regional and national needs and priorities, via national and stakeholder focal points – building from the bottom up
Secures additional sources of funding for shift to SCP, by creating broader, more innovative projects and partnerships
10YFP could support governments and to achieve SCP‐related targets in the SDGs and serve as implementation mechanism for post‐2015 development agenda
10YFP added‐value for the shift toSCP patterns
