    Iguazu Falls, in Iguazu River, are one of theworld's largest waterfalls. They extendover 2,700 m (nearly 2 miles) in a semi-circular shape. Of the 275 falls thatcollectively make up Iguassu Falls, "Devil'sThroat" is the tallest at 80 m in height.Iguazu Falls are on the border between theBrazilian state of Paran and the Argentineprovince of Misiones, and are surrounded by

    two National Parks (BR/ARG). Both aresubtropical rainforests that are host tohundreds of rare and endangered species offlora and fauna.

    Located in county Clare, theCliffs of Moher are amongstthe most impressive places to

    see in Ireland. The cliffsconsist mainly of beds ofNamurian shale andsandstone, with the oldestrocks being found at thebottom of the cliffs. One can

    see 300 million year old riverchannels cutting through thebase of the cliffs. There aremany animals living on thecliffs, most of them birds.

    Black Forest (Germany) isa wooded mountain range

    in southwestern It isbordered by the Rhinevalley to the west andsouth. The highest peak isthe mountain Feldberg withan elevation of 1,493meters. The region isalmost rectangular with alength of 200 km andbreadth of 60 km.

    The term mud volcano or mud

    dome is used to refer to formationscreated by geo-excreted liquidsand gases, although there areseveral different processes whichmay cause such activity. It isestimated that 300 of the planet'sestimated 700 mud volcanoes arefound in Gobustan, Azerbaijan andthe Caspian Sea. In Azerbaijan,eruptions are driven from a deepmud reservoir which is connectedto the surface even during dormantperiods, when seeping water still

    shows a deep origin.

    Jeita Grotto is a compound of crystallized cavesin Lebanon located 20 km north of Beirut in theValley of Nahr al-Kalb (Dog River). This grotto is

    made up of two limestone caves, upper galleriesand a lower cave through which a 6230 m longriver runs. Geologically, the caves provide a tunnelor escape route for the underground river. In thiscave and galleries, the action of water in thelimestone has created cathedral-like vaults full of

    various sizes, colors and shapes of stalactites andstalagmites, majestic curtains and fantastic rockformations.

    The Sundarbans delta, at themouth of the Ganges River, isthe largest mangrove forest inthe world, spreading acrossparts of Bangladesh and WestBengal, India. The Sundarbansfeatures a complex network of

    The Maldive Islands make upan island nation consisting of26 atolls in the Indian Ocean.They are located south ofIndias Lakshadweep islands,about 700 kilometers south-west of Sri Lanka. The Maldivesencompass 1,192 small islands,roughly two hundred of whichare inhabited.

    1,950 m above sea level. 360 satellite volcanoesare around the main volcano.

    Yushan, part of Yushan National Park, is acentral mountain range in Chinese Taipei and it

    also the name of the highest point of the range.It is also called Jade Mountain and its height is3,952 m above sea level. The park is also knownfor its diverse wildlife and ecology. The

    environment around Yushan itself spans fromsub-tropical forests at its base to alpineconditions at its peak.

    The Puerto PrincesaSubterranean River

    National Park is locatedabout 50 km north ofthe city of PuertoPrincesa, Palawan,Philippines. It features

    a limestone karstmountain landscape withan 8.2 km. navigableunderground river.

    Halong Bay is located in QungNinh province, Vietnam. Thebay features thousands oflimestone karsts and isles invarious sizes and shapes. Thebay has a 120 kilometre longcoastline and is approximately1,553 square kilometres in sizewith 1969 islets. Several of theislands are hollow, withenormous caves, other supportfloating villages of fishermen,who ply the shallow waters for200 species of fish and 450different kinds of mollusks.

    3,000 individual reefs and900 islands stretching for

    2,600 km over an area of

    approximately 344,400

    square km. It is the biggest

    single structure made by

    living creatures and can be

    seen from outer space.

    Uluru (Ayers Rock) is oneof Australia's mostrecognisable natural icons.The world-renownedsandstone formationstands 348 m high abovesea level with most of itsbulk below the ground, andmeasures 9.4 km incircumference. Uluruappears to change color asthe different light strikes itat different times of the dayand year.

    Indonesias Komodo National Parkincludes the three larger islands Komodo,Rinca and Padar, as well as numerous

    smaller ones, for a total area of 1,817square kilometers (603 square kilometersof it land). The national park was foundedin 1980 to protect the Komodo dragon.

    Later, it was also dedicated to protectingother species, including marine animals.The islands of the national park are ofvolcanic origin.

    Milford Sound, located in the southwest ofNew Zealands South Island, is located withinthe Fiordland National Park. It runs 15 kminland from the Tasman Sea and is surrounded

    by sheer rock faces that rise 1200 m or moreon either side. Among its most striking featuresare Mitre Peak, rising 1,692 m above thesound, the Elephant at 1,517 m andresembling an elephants's head, and Lion

    Mountain, 1,302 m, in the shape of acrouching lion. Lush rain forests clingprecariously to these cliffs, while seals,penguins and dolphins populate the water.

    CONCLUSIONS The Official New7Wonders of Nature are

    so important, because they are special forthe people.

    The New7Wonders of Nature Campaign,established by the New7WondersFoundation, is a global search to recognizethe seven most wondrous natural sites inthe world through the eyes of the public.

    Any site that is a clearly defined naturalsite, monument or landscape that was notcreated or significantly altered by humansfor aesthetic reasons can be nominated.
