This has been a target for a whileand it is pleasing that we have entered thisindex as a result of our performance andnot from the placing recently announced. Itis clearly the performance of Fenner acrossall businesses that has enabled our shareprice to hold up better than most similarcompanies and indeed the out-

performance over the last 6-12 monthshas been noticed and remarked upon bymany of our investors. Now that we are inthe index, the challenge is to grow withinthat index and to ensure that we only evermove out of it at the top end and not thebottom.

Homes and businesses were inundated withthe deluge, these being the biggest floodson record. The Apex Fenner ConveyorServices branch in Emerald had to beevacuated after the staff had ensured all ofthe equipment was elevated onto palletracks out of reach of the rising water.Unfortunately one employee had his homeflooded, but once staff made their homesand the Fenner offices secure theycontinued to work, some being flown byhelicopters to the Crinum East site to carryout splicing work.

Two thirds of the Australian state ofQueensland was flood declared - whilehaving been drought declared only twomonths earlier. This is an area as big as

England and Wales.Almost every river inwestern Queenslandhad flood warnings inplace.

Desperate to save her brother Bill from adeath sentence, Diane donated her kidneyto him last December, in a gesture whichhas secured a unique bond for the siblings.

On the waiting list for five years, Bill wastold not to expect miracles because the listwas so long. The type of dialysis he was onwould have seen him through for a fewmore months, but beyond that the doctorsdidn’t know. Watching her brother endurecountless hours on a dialysis machine up tofour times a week, while he waited fordonor kidney that may have never come,

she decided to give him one of her healthykidneys.

Diane is now fighting to increase awarenessof the organ donor register in a campaignshe has called the “Circle of Life”, whichcame from her grandchildren whoinnocently offered their kidneys if somethingwent wrong with hers, completing a circleof donation within the family.

Bill is now feeling better than he has formany years and Diane is back to full strengthand she has encouraged around 100 peopleto enroll on the Donor Register.

Fenner Dunlop-Australia is donating $10 foreach employee that registers as a doner tothe Rainbow Foundation. This foundationhelps raise awareness and funds for childrensuffering organ failure.

The Gladstone office of Apex Fenner hasrecently completed a major project at theCentral Queensland Port Authority for JohnHolland Construction, Berth No. 4 ExpansionProject.

The project was completed over a 12month period with various stages beginningwith the upgrade of Shiploaders No. 1 &No. 2, then the installation of the out feedconveyors CC5B, CC5BX and CC6B andfinally the installation of Shiploader No. 4.

B-LOC IN PERSPECTIVE

Continuing its strategyof going where theaction is in developingmarkets around theworld, Harbinder Singhhas recently joined theFenner Drives UK salesteam as Regional SalesManager for MiddleEastern markets.

Harbinder has a strong track record withpower transmission components and isbased in Dubai. It is anticipated regionalmarket interest in our HPC V-belts(NuTLink, SuperTLink and PowerTwistPlus) and Eagle Polyurethane Belting willlead the way initially with B-LOC keylessbushings waiting in the wings.

Ian Smith, Global Sales and MarketingDirector reports, over the last couple ofyears, Fenner Drives has missed being apart of that exclusive "Energy Club"membership roster which includes suchilluminaries as FAST and Fenner Dunlop. All that talk of mega orders made Drivesquite envious, as it seemed a decent orderfor conveyor belting was equivalent in valueto about 1,000 boxes of PowerTwist Plus V-belts! Well, the arrival of B-LOC and its topflight customers in the engineered and

mining class pulley business has changed allthat. Drives has at last joined their illustriouspeers as major players in the energy andmaterials extraction sectors where B-LOCbushings are the brand of choice in NorthAmerican Free Trade Association (NAFTA).

Up until a few months ago Fenner Driveswere quite impressed with their largestTrantorque with a 3" bore; B-LOC hasshown what "heavy metal" really means inthe world of max. rated keyless bushings! "

John started working for James Dawson inFebruary 1968 at the Moorland factory inthe silicone section, he transferred to thestretch band pressing and cutting section andmoved to the Tritton Road plant in 1985.

He was hardworking with very high standardswho was never too busy to help out a
