As the most common weaving method, the warp and weft are aligned at a right angle in a way to form a checkerboard pattern in the plain

weave. Each weft wire crosses the warp wire by going over one, then under the next, and so on. each warp or weft wire is aligned one after

another in parallel and it creates wire mesh in a square form when warp wires and weft wires are spaced evenly and in an rectangular form

when warp wires and weft wires are spaced differently.

Theoretically, it is possible to weave mesh with a wire with a diameter up to the same distance of the opening but it is recommended to use

a wire with a diameter up to about 80% of the opening due to reasons such as changes in the materials, etc. during weaving.

As a weaving method in which two weft wires pass over two warp wires and then under two warp wires and so on, it is possible to use

bolder wire diameter and has the advantages of reducing the stress on and hardening of wires as the refraction angle between warp

and weft wire is big. This is suitable for use when relatively larger load is applied.

Crimp ScreenCrimp Screen

Woven with previously crimped wires, it is suitable for a bold wire with a diameter more than 0.9mm.

This crimp type is used to make relatively larger and more accurate mesh compared with wire diameter.

＊Uses: for protection and transportation of machines requiring sufficient ventilation

＊Materials: PC hard steel wire, black wire, white wire, stainless steel, etc.

Crimp Screen

As a weaving method used to enlarge a space between warp wires or weft wires to make mesh in an

rectangular shape, the forces of mesh are equal.

It is woven in a rectangular shape by keeping original shape of wires remained unchanged.

＊ Uses: For screening, filtering and interior

＊ Materials: Black wire, galvanized, stainless steel, etc.

Ton-Cap Screen

As a weaving method used when the wire diameter for mesh is bold, mesh may be slightly increased or

decreased and like a crimp screen, previously crimped wires are used. It has the same structure as plain

weave and is also called crimp type plain weave.

This product is widely used as it has a long product life and high screening efficiency.

＊ Uses: For screening of gravels, sand, minerals, etc.

＊ Materials: Black wire, white wire, stainless steel, etc.

Double Crimp Screen

As the length of a wire is long by enlarging a space in one direction, it creates a 2nd vibration like a spring

and facilitates target particles to move along the mesh.

Surface treatment

The mesh used in the screen printing has been advanced along with the development

of the electronic industry. Now, screen printing of 800 mesh or more with wires with a

diameter less than 0.011mm can be implemented and various new materials such as

super fiber, tungsten alloy, etc. are also available.

In addition, various surface treatment technology have been developed to change the

color of mesh surface to black, make the mesh surface itself stronger, etc.

Original film is a very important material in the

screen printing to accurately reproduce images.

It is typically divided into a polyester film and a

glass film depending on the film material with

which screen printing is processed.

Flatness treatment method is the way to reduce the

roughness of emulsion surface either by using an

emulsion film or applying a special process.

This is a method needed to form images accurately

as required when printing.

TermsTerms

This is a measure of the density of a mesh and refers to the number of squares in the straight-

line distance of 1 inch (25.4mm).

Mesh

This refers to the thickness of a wire, to say, the diameter of a wire. It is usually indicated in

number in the wire gauge table. Unless otherwise specified, It refers to BWG when the wire

thickness number is over 30 and to BWG when it is less than 30.

Wire Dia

This refers to the distance between a wire and its neighboring wire consisting of a mesh and

can be calculated using a formula as below.

Opening (mm) = 25.4mm ÷ Mesh (mm) - Wire Dia (mm)

This means the ratio occupied by an empty space between wires out of mesh area in

percentage (%) and can be calculated using a formula as below.

Open area (%) = Opening² ÷ (Opening + Wire Dia)² x 100
