Educational ServicesSpecial education certified teachers provide 1:1 tutoring for children who have learning disabilities or are struggling in school to improve reading, spelling, math, writing, study skills, compensation strategies, and to help with homework. Services are by appointment only and are scheduled to best meet each child’s schedule.

Tutoring takes place at Miriam School, within a child’s home, or at the child’s private or parochial school (with permission from the school).

SPIRE and Phonics Skill BuildingPhonics are the basis for reading and spelling. If your child is not reading well, spells poorly, has Dyslexia, or is having trouble with comprehension, then phonics might be the culprit. SPIRE reading, a multisensory approach to phonics, has helped many students improve one to two grade equivalent levels. SPIRE is recommended two times per week for a minimum of 45 minutes each session.

TouchMathMany children need to attack math from a different angle to understand concepts. TouchMath provides a multisensory, tactile approach to learning. One 60-minute session per week is recommended.

Step-Up-To-WritingChildren who have issues with language or difficulty with organizing their thoughts on paper benefit from Step-Up-To-Writing, a structured approach to the writing process that helps students expand their skills. Two 45-minute sessions per week are recommended.

Homework HelpAre you tired of fighting with your child to get his or her homework done? Children often work harder for other trusted adults as compared to their parents. Children can be dropped off at the appointment time several times per week and our special education certified teachers can do the motivating.

HomeschoolingLet our certified teachers develop curriculum and teach your child at his or her home. Take a break and enjoy some time for yourself while our teachers do some of the work.

Teach the TeacherSpecial education certified teachers coach/consult with parents who are homeschooling to help with alternative teaching styles and curriculum.
